I really want to get a puppy, but I'm not sure what kind to get! I would like to get a puppy that's sort of big. I want to avoid getting a very small dog, and I want something that barely sheds. A non-shedding dog is perfect, I'm allergic to dogs that shed A LOT. I might be able to get a puppy in a couple months but I just really don't know what kind to get.

Thank God! My area will soon have breed specific legislation and it's long overdue in my book. Some breeds just were bred to be alpha dogs and aggressive and no amount of "socialization" or training can override DNA. What do you think of the ever growning BSL? Facts are facts and even the most fierce toy breed dog cannot kill a grown man but many large dominant breeds already have, a zillion times over not to mention children and other animals.

I have two small dogs. One is a Chihuahua and she is in heat right now. My other one is a Shih Tzu and she just turned 7 months. I am wanting to get them both fixed but I am not wanting my Shih Tzu to come into heat before I do it.

My question is: I didn't know if a dogs cycle is anything like a ladies. Meaning, if you have a group of girls that are always together, they will more then likely have their cycle together. Since my Chihuahua is in heat, will my Shih Tzu be more likely to come in?

I know that this may sound like a silly question. I am getting them both fixed and would like to do it at the same time (after my Chihuahua's heat is over) but I do not want my Shih Tzu coming into heat before I get her fixed. So I am just wondering if I should go ahead and get her fixed before the other.

We have 8 pitbull pups for sale. They are registered with ADBA. I have them on puppyfind.com & online-pedigrees.com. Does anyone know any other pitbull kennels I can connect with? Or where I can post an ad to sell the pups?

And I don't wanna hear any BS about pitbulls being vicious...blah, blah, blah...if you don't like pits don't bother answering, I don't have time for ignorance.

Best answer WILL be chosen. Thanx in advance!!

I have just lost my very best friend, my dog. I never imagined the grief would be so bad. I feel lost, empty, and miss her all day, although she was so ill, I still feel guilt to agreeing to her being put to sleep. No one seems to understand! Just wondered if I'm really crazy, or if anyone else feels like their world has ended, because of the loss of their dog.
Thanks xx

We just bought a 3 year old sheltie from a couple who had had her since she was a pup. We just got her last night. She is acating super scared of EVERYTHING i feel so bad! I knew it would be a bit tricky with her being 3 years old and only being with that family. The family sold her because they have a 14 mo. old and a 4 mo. old and she said she just does not have the time for her. She seems very depressed, lost and sad. I've played with her and taken her on MANY walks today. Does anyone have any good suggestions on helping her adapt to us her new family? I know it will take a bit but i want to do everything i can to make her more comfortable. Someone suggested putting karo or kyro syrup in her water? I've never ever heard of that so if you have fill me in. Any suggestions would be great! thanks!

My puppy is 7 months old, I feed her Ol' Roy puppy food. For the past two weeks or so she has had off and on diarrhea. Her poop will be hard in the morning and then very soft a few hours later. Just now it was pretty much liquid. Any ideas why this is happening? Should I ask my vet, or will it go away eventually? She hasn't lost any weight over it or her appetite.

I have had my dog for a year now and when I got her I was told her Mom was a Chihuahua and her dad was a Min Pin (both registered) I have always said she is a Chihuahua/Min Pin mix, but my sister and brother in law seem to think she had dauchsund in her, b/c is long in length. Are some dogs just longer bodied than others? Her girth is 15" and she is 14" long (neck to tail) I just said I figured her mom was a long haired Chihuahua. Please tell me what you think:

Thanks!

i have always heard that shelties r a very verbal breed. i.e. they grunt and try to talk like they r humans. is there any truth to this rumor. i have a rat terrier sheltie mix and he whines and wimpers and grunts and groans and looks at u and expects u to know what he is thinking about or "talking" about. so is there any truth to this rumor. all u sheltie people.

He is not the only dog I've ever had that does this so I know it's got to be a canine thing. I was just wondering if anyone else's dog does this.

I've got a Poodle girl, so I just thought of a great way to make some great money! The neighbor down the street has a few magnets.

So, if I breed them, I'd get Magnadoodles, right? I saw some at Target for like $20. If I get 10 Magnadoodles in the litter, that's $200! That's great money, but if I get 10 Poodles, that would be $2000! And all I need to pay for is dog food!

So, I have a few questions:
1. How many Magnadoodles do you think I'll get in each litter?
2. Does the name "Magnadoodle" have a copyright? Do you think I can use it for my girl's babies?
3. Do you think I could sell them to just anybody or would they have more needs than the Magnadoodles at Target?
4. Are there any special breeding requirements for this new breed?

Thanks!

I have rescued a 16/17wk doberman, he has never been house trained, the people that had him let him go where ever and when ever he wanted, how do i re train him, it is driving us mad, i have been taking him out every 30 min, saying go toilet, and praising and giving treats when goes, washing and spraying the area after he does goes to remove scent, Saying no and trying to get him outside if i catch him going inside(he just looks at me and finishes anyway)everything i can find i have tried as in "puppy house training"
does he need a different way because he is older?
can i break this habit?

I just got a new puppy. She's a Cairn Terrier/ Chihuahua mix and she won't stop biting things. Hair, paper, feet, fingers, anything she can get her teeth on. It's starting to become a problem. She's been eating things and then pooping them out, things such as ear plugs. How can I get her to stop chewing on things?
