My puppy is 7 months old, I feed her Ol' Roy puppy food. For the past two weeks or so she has had off and on diarrhea. Her poop will be hard in the morning and then very soft a few hours later. Just now it was pretty much liquid. Any ideas why this is happening? Should I ask my vet, or will it go away eventually? She hasn't lost any weight over it or her appetite.

The lack of quality nutrition in the food may have something to do with it . There are many other causes of diarrhea also. Possible parasites such as worms or giardia can be a cause. A simple virus can cause soft poops as well as being very active after eating. I would let the vet have a look in order to get a proper diagnosis.

diarrhea can be caused by a number of things just like in humans. But the Little guy can get dehydrated if it continues for an extended time. I don't like the food you are feeding. Either ask your vet, or read labels. There are lots of food designed just for the puppy. They are growing fast and expend a lot of energy. Don't just go for the cheapest but you don't have to buy the most expensive either. And DO NOT give her milk. that alone can cause diarrhea.
Stress can also cause upsets, Moving, or company, or something going on to cause her to be upset. Keep in mind she is an infant and treat her as such.

If it doesn't improve soon take her to the vet.

Well, even though your food isn't as healthy as it should be, that's probably not the cause of diarrhea.

Diarrhea can be a sign of dehydration. Ensure that your dog has 24/7 access to fresh water to ensure you're dog isn't dehydrated.

Also, diarrhea can also be a symptom of a parasitical infection. This is probably a time where you should see a vet.

Here is a site that has WONDERFUL and educational information on why your dog can get diarrhea, and may help you classify the reasons.

It's a little bit on the lengthy side, but oh so worth the time taken to read it!

Good luck!!

You should visit the Vet. Take a stool sample with you and they can check for any GI parasites that can be in the intestines. Sometimes these parasites will cause diarrhea or even blood in the stool.

Here's a tip. First of all, go to the vet asap. Then, mix baby food bananas with her food. This will help her diarrhea. Then, get Pedialite (spelling) from the baby section of your grocery store. It has extra electrolytes and will keep her from getting dehydrated.
