Do dogs have the cleanest mouths?

My boyfriend and his buddy are arguing that dogs have the cleanest mouth. i say NO WAY they eat rotten garbage and lick their balls i mean yuck. someone help who is right me or them.

Actually, you're both right. It's like this. Dogs "do" have some-
thing in their saliva which acts like a sterilized cleansing agent
when they lick their wounds, and this is why they heal relatively
quick. And, to "some" degree, it does this with humans also.
But, it does not act as quickly on humans, which is why it's not really a good idea to let a dog lick your mouth right after he/she has licked their butts! My dog "has" licked my face, but I try to make sure she does not lick on or around my mouth
because not only does it stink, I find that to be gross! So, as I said, you are both right.

The kind of bacteria found in a human mouth and a dog mouth depend on what's been there recently. But generally, humans are immune to most dog germs. Likewise, human germs probably won't harm a dog. But human germs can harm humans, of course. So a bite from a human mouth full of harmful bacteria may very well be more damaging than a dog bite, even if the dog's mouth is full of harmful dog germs.

You are right. Both human and dogs mouths are filled with bacteria. But being different species their bacteria is different then what is ours and we are not affected by their bacteria. So don't panic if your dog licks you, you don't have to run and wash immediately

Dogs mouths are cleaner than humans. The enzymes in their saliva kill more bacteria and germs than humans do. That said, at any given time, they may have something in their mouths that they havent had time for their mouths to clean up. Therefore you will get a "dirty" kiss if they lick you.
