My Dog is freaking Out!!!!! I Dont Know Whats Wrong With her. She has been hiding and crying for the past 2 days. She is A ten year old cocker spaniel. Im not sure if she is hurt or has nightmares or what. Maybe our house is haunted i hear that dogs are very sensitive to the paranormal. The weather is getting realy cold. does that have anything to do with this? She has never been like this before. We take her on Daily three mile walks. Does that affect her health? Is She just getting old or is something wrong?

Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

At what age can you start training a pup? Besides house training which of course starts from day one. I keep hearing different ages like 15 weeks and so forth. But puppies are usually around 7 or 8 weeks when they are first adopted or bought right?

I'm about to be moving to Tyler, TX and will be moving into an apartment. My problem is that I have two dogs...pit bulls to be exact and all decent apartments and property managment companies say no pit bulls, rotweillers, dobermans, etc. I thought maybe it was a city ordinance and checked into it; however, it is not. These animals are not mean. Infact they are nothing, but the biggest babies and are probably treated better than some children. Sarge, my male, has passed numerous obedience test and is a certified therapy dog. We go visit nursing homes and hospitals with him. My other dog, Dixie, is in training to become a therapy dog also! Despite all there certifications and my dogs great temperment sall property managments companies say no. Has anyone ever been in this situation and does anyone have any advice to how I may sway managment to allow me to keep Dixie and Sarge?

No cooking for my dog isn't a choice I'm ready to make..

what do you think about these indegredients :

Chicken, turkey, oatmeal, whole grain brown rice, chicken meal, turkey meal, whole grain white rice, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), potatoes, cracked pearled barley, millet, duck, salmon, egg product, flaxseed, natural chicken flavor, kelp, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, glucosamine hydrochloride, chicory root extract, carrots, peas, apples, dried skim milk, cranberry powder, rosemary extract, parsley flake. Vitamins and minerals.

after I get a few answers I'll say what it is..

you know here we tell people : go to the vet, go the vet....

My border collie stopped eating suddenly, after few days, I took her to the vet (what else was I supposed to do?) , he thought it was one bad tooth (not true, because I saw her chewing a toy with both sides fo her mouth), then after a couple of days of watering down the food, still not eating, we did blood tests: nothing - stool samples: nothing....she would only eat if I put a treat on top of her bowl... so I finally bought new food, and mix it to her usual food, and bingo Miss princess eats! and when I don't put anything with her food, she does not eat...

is it possible that suddenly a dog stops liking his/her food? and refuses to eat it based on taste???

After spending so much money, I feel stupid. I suspected it could be that but wnated to be sure... did I go to the vet too soon?

I have a Collie/Labrador Cross, a Jack Russell and a 10 month old baby boy.

Right from the start I've worried about having the dogs around the baby. I never leave my son alone with them but I worry about the hygiene aspect of having dogs with the baby (my Jack Russell picked up fleas recently which was a nightmare, I treated the whole house) the dog hairs on the floor etc (hoovering 4 times a day) and also I don't have the time to spend with the dogs that I used to or the energy for long walks.

I feel they should be rehomed but my other half wants to keep them and he won't agree.

My son loves the dogs, squeals with excitement when he sees them and crawls round the floor after them! Do you think its really bad to have dogs around my baby or would it be better to rehome them? We only have a small house too which is another thing that worries me.

My g/f and I are thinking about getting our own place. Most likely a small house or something to start out in later on in the future. She wants a Pomeranian for sure and Im ok with that since it will be her dog, however I want a dog for myself thats loyal, loving but also tough enough to scare away intruders like a watch dog and one that trains and listens well. I know a Pomeranian has no defence toward a full grown man. So, it comes down to a Golden Retriever or a German Shepherd. Which one should I get? Mind you the Pomeranian and the other dog will be living together so they have to be able to get along.

She is a lab/german shepard/border collie mix. She usually only does this outside and bites really hard, tugs on my clothes and rips them. I try ignoring her or not moving and she just tugs and bites harder, what should I do to stop her from doing this?

my dog is 11 in jan and she has always been sprightly and active being half whippit. but recently she started chewing her foot and was limping on it...shes done this before and the vet always gave her tablets to clear it up (we had tests done to see why she was doing this but they never found out) she also started for the first time licking her belly which came out in lumps and the skin turned dark and wrinkly. now she refuses to walk anywhere...yet when she eventually gets to the park she runs a little bit and seems fine. im thinking of getting her a doggy pushchair to wheel her to the park cos it takes forever and she keeps stopping and shes too heavy to carry. it breaks my heart tho as she use to love her walks..is it just old age? i always thought she would live to 17 but now im not to sure. she means so much to me..i got her when i was 13 and was being horrifically bullied, if it hadnt been for her i would not be here today. i love her so much and just want to help her.

I just adopted a puppy (6 mos. old), she was given frontline from the humane society...i am going to my first vet appointment this week...my friend told me that their dog lost a lot of fur when she gave him frontline and then she went to her vet and he said that he does not like frontline because he has seen that happen to a lot of dogs. My friend switched meds and his hair came back....has this happened to anyone else?? I'm wondering if I should insist on a different medicine?
