Your vet can diagnose. We can only guess or give you some ideas of what may be wrong. Your vet is the best bet.

If he just vomited once and is totally fine now, no need for the vet. The fact is, dogs just vomit once in a while. There's usually no medical reason for it. Obviously, if the vomiting continues today, or if he's showing other symptoms of not feeling well, then a trip to the vet might be a good idea. But as things are right now, it's not necessary. Think about it, would you take yourself to the doctor if you threw up just once, and then felt fine? You probably wouldn't.

Here are a selection of the illnesses that vomiting and diarrhoea are symptomatic of:

+ eating something inappropriate
+ poisoning
+ bacterial/viral illness
+ worms
+ food allergies
+ tumours
+ organ failure
+ gastroenteritis

What I'm trying to say is, no one here can tell you. I know you're worried and what to know what the problem is before you get to the vet, but I'm here to tell you it's impossible. Based on what you've said, it could be any one of the above conditions, or something else entirely. That's why vets do physical exams, take clinical history and do diagnostic tests for, to find out what the problem is.

I know I'm not going to get best answer or probably even any thumbs up for this one, but it is the best answer because it's the truth. You're doing the right thing, you're going to the vet. Researching on the internet is only going to make you paranoid about all the different things it could possibly be. Don't do it to yourself.

Your dog probably just ate or drank something it shouldn't have. They are usually good at getting it out of their systems by throwing it up. The vet will know and hopefully your dog will be fine soon.

I know this may sound disgusting but my dog sometimes sicks up white phlegm and i asked the vet and realised, this is quite healthy for my dog as it eats grass to help it be sick and get up hairballs, and try to look closely at the stuff , if it has green buts in it is quite normal and about the diarrhea just get him/her to the vet

Maybe it was the food that the dog ate. What did you feed it. My dog one day all of a sudden started having a seizure. He was shaking and everytime he stood up, he would just fall over. Then he foamed up at the mouth and started to throw up. We really don't know what was the cause of all of this. Do you know why dogs have seizures?

Sounds like she ate something either poisonous or thats simply reacting badly in her system. Give her fluids until your vet appt, you dont want her to dehydrate
