Pig ears are disgusting. They are slaughterhouse by-products and my friend's dog nearly died after swallowing a chunk. They ARE fattening and gross. Please choose something like Wellness biscuits/jerky, or Bravo! Bonus Bites. They are better for your dog and do not contain by-products.

The issue is that dogs are poor generalizers - it's not that the dog is "sneaky, greedy" etc, but that they have no intrinsic sense of morality or "rightness" and so only think something is "bad" if it has bad consequences. If it has never had bad consequences except with a human in the room, then how on earth are they to know that the rules still apply with the human out of the room? You need to train in such a way that corrections and rewards occur when the dog does not think you are present - i.e. hiding around the corner. Read here https://tr.im/Wxmdm

I personally owned a Labrador Retriever (read: chow hound) that could be left 6" from a hot dog in a sit-stay for half an hour and not touch it - the word was "mine" and it meant that you don't touch that, even if I am not in the room, even if whatever, you DO NOT touch that. You could leave a plate of food on the floor for hours and not only would she not touch it, she would also keep the other animals (dogs and cats) from touching it.

In all probability, these dogs studied were just not properly trained/proofed before the experiment. With "proofing" to set them up and catch them in the act to give

HI there,
I buy them by the bag In Bulk Per Say
My dogs Love them and I cannot see the fattening part of it as they have them forever chewing on them so it is not as if they are chewing them all up @ once putting on all kinds of calories and such all @ once unless your dogs are ones who do not get allot of treats and then when they do they gobble them down
So I would defiantly Feed them Pig Ears as a Snack

Pig ears are a lot like rawhide, They can get very soft and wet. If your dog doesn't consume all of it at one time, bacteria will form on it. When your dog chews on it again, he will ingest the bacteria and can become sick. Otherwise they are not necessarily unhealthy and if your dogs like them just be sure to take away any leftovers and throw them out.

Pig ears are fine. They have pig ears that are even meant as a dog snack. You don't have to give them to your dog if you don't want, but if your dog likes them it might be a nice treat, maybe once every other day or so, and just let him get a lot of exercise so he doesn't get fat.

My dog loves pigs' ears, but a big one gives him diarrhea. And, diarrhea or not, I wouldn't give one to him more than once a week because they are fattening.

No more or less disgusting than regular meat; it's probably the fact that it is recognizably part of an animal which distresses you. The joy your doggie gets from chewing one will outweigh the disgust. Think about it this way-- the pig is dead anyway, better that all parts of him or her get used than just thrown away :)

My dog gets a pig ear no more than once a week because they are fattening. But they're yummy! They are doggie bacon!

Pig ears for dogs are far better than rawhide chews because rawhide can swell in the dog's intestines, causing obstructions.
Pigs hoofs are good too -very hard, scrapes teeth clean.

Also good are C.E.T. chews, they have an enzyme that helps prevent tartar buildup on their teeth. You can get them online or at your vets.

Be advised- dogs don't always chew them up enough because they are so tasty-when they aren't chewed properly they can cause problems with the digestive tract that can cause hospitalization

Pig ears are fine for dogs and they love them! Also try cow hooves. They last a lot longer.
