My five year old yorkie is extremely aggressive when it comes to strange dogs. He used to not be, but it seems he is getting worse with time. When we owned a dachshund and he lived in the house too, Vinnie (the yorkie) did not exhibit this behavior. He runs and barks and nips at other dogs. He is so tiny, that only one bite from a big dog would kill him. I am really worried about this behavior because it could seriously hurt him and my brother-in-law, who at the time lives with us, brought home a full grown lab who is being pretty submissive to Vinnie, but I am afraid that it won't last long. Oh and by the way, Vinnie is neutered so that is not the problem. THANKS!!!!!!!!!

I found my neighbor's dog. The owner will not be back for a while. I know it will get hungry and I cannot leave my house because my car is being borrowed. What can I feed it?

Living in Portugal we found 8 puppies on the day they were born in an garbage container, wrapped in an plastic bag. 3 of them died. We were bottle feeding the left over 5 with puppy milk. Now it is the 16.th day and they have more than 2500 gr. How big will they get ? And when shall I start with normal milk and a bowl and how ? Thank you for every helpful idea. If you assume to find good information about this in the net - simply forget it.

My dog has jerky treats. When i give them to her I always find them under my pillow. Sometimes she'll scratch a corner and leave it there, but they're almost always under my pillow. Why?

I took my dog to the vet 2 days ago because he had a build up of fluid on his ear. The vet drained it & injected some steroids. Ever since then when he goes for a wee he stands there peeing for ages, & when i got up this morning he had wet his bed & then he had a wee on the floor. He has never done this before, & when he usually does go for a wee he usually just does it a little bit on each bush to cover up the scent of other dogs.

Is it possible that the steroids are making him drink more?

I dont tell him off because i know its not his fault, but he is making the house a mess with is wee now.
He is a 6yr old Border Collie.

Thanks.

my dog ( chihuahua mix) ate spoiled ham. she vomited several times. she looks fat and has been drinking plenty of water. what should i do? should i wait to see how she's tomorrow morning or take her to the vet immediately?

also, what can i do ? since, she always goes directly to the trash and looks what she finds and takes everything out whenever i let her into the house. i've caught her in the act several times and tell her "NO" and take her outside but she just repeats the act .

any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I need to know if a solid black boxer dog could exist. I know that reverse brindle is considered the closest thing to a black boxer, but I have proof that a solid purebred black boxer is in fact a real thing. (My mother has been breeding boxers for many years, and she told me that black was not a color gene in the boxer line, and that if a boxer came out that color, it was mixed, but then the last time she bred which was about two years ago, her female gave birth to a solid black boxer who did not have stripes of any kind. she was purebred and black.) Has anyone else heard of this?

My favorite dog Sadie lived to be 14. She was mixed breed doberman/shepherd. She was smart, loyal and completely trained in obedience and personal protection. What an amazing dog. When you looked into her eyes it was as if you could see her soul. I first met her when I started dating my husband. It was love at first sight for Sadie and I At that time she was just a year old. She still loved my hubby but from that day on we were joined at the hip
She passed away at 14 quietly one morning an hour after I left for work. She apppeared to be hanging on and suffering badly. The Vet had told us to make her confortable which we did. The night before she passed I spoon fed her water and food. I held her head in my lap...looked her in the eyes and told her it was okay to go....we would be okay.
She waited until I left for work the next morning to pass. My father-in-law came out to sit with her and she took her last breath.

My puppy is doing really well, almost can sit on command, but sometimes he gets so hyper and nippy, whats the best thing to do in that circumstance? ignore/get mad/crate? I really dont know, i dont want to reward, but I dont want him to think of his crate as a punishment place. I heard that sometimes they get like that when they are tired and overstimulated. Advice?

I have 4 animals. 2 dogs and 2 cats. one of my dogs is a male. and the rest of my animals are all female and they are spaded. However, I have yet to get my male dog neutered. The problem with that is I have asked my husband if I could get him neutered and he gets mad at me everytime I bring it up. He thinks it is taking away his man hood or something. The dogs that is.

I have heard that just by getting him neutered could help make him less aggressive and it could end up helping him live longer.

What could i do or say to convince my husband to let me do this? He is currently in the army and is overseas at the moment but I just cant up and have it done with out him being okay with it as I dont want any fights and I dont want him to end up being angry with me for it. Please help as I want what is best for my dog and all my animals.

Thanks!

I have three kids, ages 6, 3, and 2. I also have a 3 year old Lhasa Apso. Shes a tiny, 12 lb dog, but she is constantly snapping and growling at my kids. She was fine as a puppy, but shes getting really bad about it. Im afraid shes going to bite them. If shes laying on the couch and they just walk by, she growls. What should I do? The dog is very sweet to me, just doesnt like my kids.

My dog has been itching like crazy lately and it's keeping me up all night. I have tried Frontline, Biospot and K9 Advantix and not one of them has worked. They cut down on the itching a little bit, but he is darting around like fleas are biting his butt and he keeps biting at his legs. He had a flea bath each time before I applied the topical treatments. Whats gives? I can't stand seeing him be so uncomfortable but I can't think of what else to do. My 2 indoor cats use Frontline and they never scratch.

Just ONE of MANY reasons not to breed without being FULLY prepared and knowing what you are doing on the link above.

Admittedly, this person has been PARTICULARLY stupid, but it does at least give an example of ONE of the things that can go wrong.

Why do some of you encourage people who know very little to breed from their pets?
