I use Frontline on my dog. It does a good job of killing ticks but it doesn't work too well for fleas (I live in an area with a lot of fleas). I can't use Advantix because it contains a chemical which is poisonous to my cat. Does anyone know of a natural, non-toxic way to deal with fleas?

my dog wont stop. she wont. she wants to play morning, day, night, rain, snow, sleet, whatever. she hurt her pad the other day (under front paw, its split open) and still wants to play. i have it wrapped, and i put vitamin e gel on it. i dont want her running around until its better, but the ***** doesnt care. its like she's possessed, she gives me the evil eye if i dont throw the ball. anyone else have a dog with OCD?

Hello,
I'm considering getting a German Shephard dog, and I have a few questions:

1.I have a LOT of cats. If I raise a GSP puppy with them, would cats be safe from him?

2.Are they relatively easy to be trained? Do they listen to you when you talk or do they jump and lick at you and not listen?

3. We were going to put the pup in the front yard, which is about 1/4 to 1/2 of an acre, is that enough room for him or her?

4.Is ok to keep him inside the house until he is a certain age and then put him outside?

Is there anything else I should know before I consider getting one? There are a few reasons why I want a GSP, a.) I would like a guard dog, b.)I want a walking companion, c.) I don't want coyotes to come up in my yard, d.) I want a loyal companinion that will listen when I talk and not lick my hands and stuff when I pet him or her. Is the GSP a good dog for me?

About two weeks ago we discovered a golf-ball sized lump on my dog's front right leg. It just popped up overnight! We took her to the vet immediately and the ran some tests on the lump and she has cancer. She has x-rays tomorrow to see if it spread and if we should do a Mass Removal. I didn't get a chance to really talk to the vet for long otherwise I would have asked him. Is there anything in particular that could've caused this to happen? Something we did or didn't do? Or is it a lot like when humans get cancer and sometimes it just happens to certain dogs/animals?

I have a black puppy who is only 4 weeks old.We brought him inside and all of a sudden he fell over.I took him back outside and as I carry him his head falls over and his mouth is open and his eyes cracked.I put him down and he fell over!And all he is doing is moving his legs constantly even when I pick him up!He won't get up though!I can't afford a vet it happened ten min. ago July 24th.I am so scared and it is hard to type because I am balling my eyes out does someone know what to do?HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

ever time i get it out of the closet she goes crazy and when i turn it on she chases me barking the entire time it is pretty funny but it has gotten to the point where she chews the cord and stands by the closet where i keep it and barks...which is annoying...

I have a two year old Jack Russell Terrier that loves the water. She has always played in the water with no problems. Two weeks ago we took her to a lake and after swimming and playing for more than an hour she became sick. We initially thought she must have swallowed too much water, but she became worse. By the time we got to the emergency vet her temperature had dropped, heartrate had dropped, she was shaking and panting with labored breathing. She also had neurological effects such as balance difficulties. The vet thought it may have been a toxin.

Two nights ago, we took her to a completely different lake. After about a hour of swimming and playing she had the start of similar symptoms. By the time we got her back to the emergency vet her temp had already dropped again and she was weak. Since it was a different lake, we know it wasn't the water or a toxin. Her bloodwork showed very low electrolyte levels and after a night on fluids she was fine again. Any ideas that this is?

My dog's been shedding like crazy and he's got a small sack-like lump under his arm filled with like puss and there are a few hairs coming out of it but it's odd! He's only 8. I called the vet and they said to put flax seed oil in his food. What could this be? I need some ideas. Could it be cancer?

hes a really sweet dog hes 9 so hes very mature and loveing he loves cuddling people and is very friendly towards anyone. but when we first got him (when he was 7) he plays with his toy but when u go to take it away he bites. now i know this is common bacause its his property but once my nan walked past when he had his toy n he bit her foot! she didnt even touch him or anything, its probley not his fault but we dont give him toys inside of the house now cause he jus sits there with his toy looking for trouble and wags his tail. do u think its ok to let him have his "property" just outside the house?

My 8 week old puppy is eliminating in her crate. Due to work, I have to keep her crated for up to 4hrs. I am trying to mat train her, but am having very minimal success. It seems as though she prefers going in her crate than on the mat. Any mat training advice? Especially for those who work during the day. Thanks.

we have a pitt mix who get little bumps all over his back every so often. they are itchy, he chews them, loses his fur, the skin gets infected, he ends up wearing an e-collar, what a pain!! the vet said it's skin allergies and when he breaks out we wash him with a special shampoo that keeps it from getting infected but it still itches and he still chews. we can't figure what the trigger is, it happens every few days to twice a month. has anyone with pitt-mixes had this problem and what did you do to solve it? i'm not keen on the idea of steroid shots so are there any more natural things to try? (the vet wants to give him steroid shots, that's her solution)

For a while now, my dog has been waking up in the middle of the night and is getting sick all over our dining room floor. It's not vomit, it's diarrhea, and this morning my mom said she's getting rid of him. Does anyone know about a health problem my dog might have that makes him go? Please; I really love my dog and would be heart broken to see him be put in a shelter. If there's a treatment that might cure him of this unfortunate habit, please tell me.

my sister has just adopted a dog, he was a stray. he likes to play with my dog but it takes a long time to calm down because hes only 6 months old, but my dogs 4 and calms down much faster, and then her dog keeps bothering him? how can i stop him from doing this, my dogs getting sick of it.

How do I get my puppy to stop stealing my underwear?
Why does he dig it out the dirty laundry and play with it?? It's gross, it's always my underwear and not my clothes!

It's always my panties tho, he doesn't go for anything else!

Obviously I wash my underwear before I wear it, but he is getting it out of my laundry hamper. I can't afford to buy a new one, and why is he doing it?
