I just noticed one day ago that my german shepherd puppy has a bump directly next to his penis. It's almost like there's a marble right beneath the skin (very hard) I'm pretty sure it's not his testicles, I can see & feel for the 2 testicles where they are supposed to be (the marble shape has been there for one whole day & hasnt moved) Then this morning, I went outside to greet him & he had 2 more marble like shapes, one on each side of his penis (along with the first one still up above) After about 15-20 seconds the 2 new bumps just dissapeared into his skin! Someone please help! I've never owned a male puppy before, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

I have a small 5 pound, 1 yr old maltipoo. As I am trying to find a good vet to get her fixed I am finding that getting her fixed ranges anywhere from 100-400 dollars. Is this really a risky procedure where you get what you pay for? Some vets are recommending blood work and many tests be run prior. Is this necessary? I love my dog and want to take really good care of her but does she need additional 80 -100 dollar tests if she seems to be in good health? Is there alot that can go wrong with this proceedure that I need to be super picky about the vet? Does she need pain medication injections? One vet recommends she stays overnight. Is this necessary? She is not monitored at night but they said they keep the temperature just right for her. Would it be better for her to just come home and be in her own bed?

My best friend has 2 older Siberian Huskies and every time she lets them out to exercise the flies keep bothering their ears, it is at the point where they are bleeding, she has tried numerous sprays with no luck, do you have any suggestions to keep the flies away and also what can she use to heal the ends of the ears so they dont become infected? I know the vet gave her ointment but the flies still mess with the ears after that?? Any help would be great. I never had this problem where I live but she lives in town, could that be the reason?

My chihuahua sneezes whenever he wants to be let outside.
He doesn't even go near the door. He just sits there and sneezes untill someone gets up to let him out.

And now even if he doesn't wanna be let out, he sneezes alot anyway.

Is it possible that he has allergies?
If he does my parents are heka not paying for meds.

Just wondering if it's normal.

It seems like a must in the breeding community to declaw the doberman. Docking i can understand. I'm not too much of a fan of ear cropping... but declawing ... soundz kinda painful.

Is the pup male or female? How is his/her temperment? How big is he/she? How much did he/she cost? Are there any especially positive or negative things about him/her?
Thanks.

I have a 8 year old Papillon/Pom

He has not been neutered yet (but will be soon) I also have a 8 yr. old female golden retriever (who has been spade) This little guy will NOT leave the female alone! I'm so discouraged. They play well together. He'll even give her kisses on her face! But then he starts the humping and it goes on and on for hours. Do you think the neutering will help calm him down much? It's getting so bad that we won't be able to keep him if he keeps this up at this rate. I love the little guy, but I feel so bad for my golden. It's constant! I hope someone out there can give me some advice. Thanks!

I am just curious... what is the use of reg. papers if you don't plan on breeding your dog? Is it just papers saying your dog is a purebreed and up to standards?

I work at a vet clinic, and while we had a relief vet this week, she mentioned that at a behavior seminar she had attended, they said that with aggressive female dogs, spaying can make the problem worse because the estrogen isn't there to mediate the testosterone put out by the adrenal glands. I have been looking this up on the internet and have found conflicting information. I was wondering if anyone here had seen this/heard about it? Before anyone gets on their soap box, I'm not suggesting people not spay and neuter their pets, and I'm not suggesting aggressive pets be allowed to breed and pass on this temperament. And dont' insult my intelligence by telling me that that spaying/neutering FIXES aggression- I'm educated, and I work in a vet clinic, I have seen MANY aggressive dogs and cats that have been spayed/neutered, and aren't the tiniest fraction better after. I'm simply asking if anyone has seen the problem get WORSE in female dogs who already have aggression.

He is able to be ACA registered, the owner of the kennel said, but he said only in i get him neutered. I do not want to get him neutered of course, but I do want to breed him. Are there any other ways to get the papers? Also, his dad is a Biewer's Yorkie registered with a German registry (where he came from) and I believe his mom is registered with AKC.
Even though I want to breed him with a purebred Yorkie, I've considered breeding him with another type of purebred. What would be the possible solutions and best solution in this situation?
Thank you.

The vet found it yesterday it is the size of a pea and the vet said that she will need surgery to remove it or it will spread throughout the body and kill her. I am getting it removed next week and having her spayed at the same time. Is the success rates for this type of thing successful? I am so scared for her. I should have had her spayed before but didnt want to put her through it and now I feel even worse :-(

I've been looking around to find out what breed of dog I "need", but some of the stuff I've heard seems to be contradictory, so could you give me an idea of a breed that (basically) fits the stuff below?

1.I want a large dog.

2.Walk maybe two or four times a week (depends).

3.Gets along well with cats (doesn't chase them, bite them, etc.)

4.Runs off other dogs/coyotes.

5.Doesn't bark continuously.

6.Friendly but wouldn't allow someone mess with our house.

7.A yard that is about 1/4 to 1/2 of an acre would be enough room for him or her. (We'll probably put one of those electric fence things under the ground.)

I've been checking at our local animal shelter for pups too, so if you know a mix that would be good. (I don't care if it's pureblood and whatnot)

Thanks in advance.

Last night my 6/yo beagle woke up and came to me shaking uncontrollably. It was if he was extremely cold or scared. He shook for at least 10 minutes until finally, he fell back asleep with me comforting him. He stopped tremoring once he was asleep. This morning when we got up, he seemed extremely lethargic and was still shivering. He's been doing it all day. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. Does anyone know what may be going on?
