My two dogs have bacterial ear infections and I am almost out of their ear drops. I need a home remedy to relieve of the itching my dogs are dealing with. I'm hoping somone else out there has had this going on with their dog before.

1 part apple cider vinegar (healing agent)
1 part rubbing alcohol (drying agent)
1 part water ( a dilution)

This stuff burns but it works. Fill ear canal with mixture & massage the base of the ear to loosen any debri that may have accumlated in there. After massage allow dog to shake it's head. Apply once more the same way & allow dog to shake head. Clean out what you can see with a paper towel or Q-tip or cotton ball.

Apply 2 to 3 times daily.

This recipe was given to me by a Vet that practiced alternative medicine.

I have a chow X that has chronic ear infections in one ear. Vet. meds. didn't help. I use this mixture as a general ear cleaner on all my dogs & cats.

I think antibiotics are needed if it is at the infection state! if you are just worried about the itching for now, you can use an antihistamine. Benadril works great, but give them a child's dose (oral liquid)! It will make them sleepy and they should stop scratching or rubbing their ears. Please make sure they are on antibiotics as I believe the infection will not go away without them! The antihistamine will only stop the itching. Good luck and give hem a big hug from me!

There are no safe home remedies to use..you need to contact the vet and let them know it hasn't cleared up yet..they will give you appropriate medication for the problem.
Self medicating can cause a lot more harm then good!!
