Last night my 6/yo beagle woke up and came to me shaking uncontrollably. It was if he was extremely cold or scared. He shook for at least 10 minutes until finally, he fell back asleep with me comforting him. He stopped tremoring once he was asleep. This morning when we got up, he seemed extremely lethargic and was still shivering. He's been doing it all day. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. Does anyone know what may be going on?

Thanks everyone who answered! He has an upper respiratory infection. He was shaking because he felt awful!

Shaking is often a sign of pain. You need to get him to the vet sooner if possible.

I had a dog who used to do that too. They were epileptic fits and started when he was about 8 years old. It's highly unpleasant and he would also have this panicked expression on his face but they didn't last very long. The vet put him on all sorts of different treatments but the fits still occured. Nevertheless, my dog lived till he was almost 16 years old so try not to panic too much and get lots of different vet opinions.

I don't like the sound of that. Is there a chance your dog could have gotten into something poisonous? Take him to the vet!

Good luck!

is he hypoglycemic? sound's like his sugar is too low. Check to see if he's dehydrated also sometimes this goes hand in hand. Make sure he eats well before a long nap.
