Monorchidism is hereditary. Retained testicles are prone to testicular cancer. Your breeder should be notified for her own records, your pup nuetered so as not to spread the defect.

A dog with a retained testicle should NOTever be bred. This problem is usually genetc.....also it is important to get him neutered asap..a retained testicle can become cancerous very quickly and also cause other problems.

It also sounds like you didn't get this puppy from a reputable breeder so it is hard telling what other genetic/health issues may be lurking in the background.

In order to be considered for a breeding program your dog would need to be at least 2 years old, have had and passed genetic testing (not just simple vet exams), have an impeccible pedigree, meet breed standard proven either by showing or by evaluation by unbiased breed knowledgable people.

I would definately not breed this dog. If his testicle hasn't dropped then he should be neutered and definately not be bred as he can spread this genetic trait down to his progeny. It also makes him and (if he were to breed) his progeny more prone to cancer so I would definately have the testicles removed before it has a chance to sit in there and rot any further. There is no point in taking a chance with cancer, I've been down that road and it's not a pretty picture.

It's a fault. If you're really interested in breeding Pomeranians, find that breeder's number and get some more advice and mentoring! In the meantime, get your adorable dog neutered and love him for his whole life. Just because he isn't perfect to breed doesn't mean he isn't perfect as a pet to love and care for.

I have heard it can mean the dog is prone to cancer. I woulden't recomend breeding as yoou wouldent be able to get papers and you don't know enough about the dogs genetic background. Also the puppies would sell for a lot less.
Vets tend to recomend castrating these dogs, don't worry he will live longer if this happens.

Neuter him, it's a health risk by allowing it to sit in there and rot.. And you don't want to breed him and pass on that problem.. He should be neutered and not bred.. don't want to continue breeding a dog with such an obvious genetic defect..

Sounds like his testicle didn't descend properly. You should go a head and get him neutered any way. There are too many unwanted pets out there. Plus it will be healthier for him in the end.

Dogs like this should always be nuetered. If not, the risk of testicular cancer is very high. Also he will likely pass the gene on to his sons.
