Just ONE of MANY reasons not to breed without being FULLY prepared and knowing what you are doing on the link above.

Admittedly, this person has been PARTICULARLY stupid, but it does at least give an example of ONE of the things that can go wrong.

Why do some of you encourage people who know very little to breed from their pets?

OMFG - New developments w/ this question.

Not only is she playing on this site while her dog dies in agony, she's not even paying attention to the answers she's received. How many people need to tell her to phone a vet before she'll take notice?

I'm clinging to the hope that she's just a troll with a particularly sick sense of humour, and that we've all fallen for her rouse, but it seems too convincing.

I've been on this site for a year now and seen some pretty revolting postings, but I can honestly say I've never before been so angry with anyone on this site in my life.

Quote from one of her earlier questions:

"Thanks for the help!I love those puppies more than anything, ..."

Stupidity doesn't cut it. Pure evil.

Well, the post has been up for 2 days so far and still NOT ONE of those who encourage indiscriminate breeding of dogs has bothered to post.

Go on, educate me. PLEASE! I'm CRYING OUT to LEARN from your WISDOM. Hell, I might even give you those extra points you seem to crave if you can teach me something.

Meanwhile I'll keep this post open for a few more days...

Can we all say "Amen!" brethern? I see SO many disasters here and wonder what would have been avoided if the person had listened to the experienced folks when they said, "Don't breed until you know what you're doing and can afford to". And then there's the couple of persons who insist the fifty or so reputable, knowledgeable folks are morons and want to keep the puppy buyers all for themselves. I haven't bred a litter in over five years due to financial problems caused by divorce and crippling injuries. I have no puppies for sale, nor will I for a few years at least. But I have a list a mile long of people who want me to contact them when I do have some. So why would I want to worry about buyers? And to call me a hypocrite for my opinion is just hogwash. A hypoctire says one thing and does another, and I never say "Don't breed". I say learn to do it responsibly! I took ten years before I bred any dogs to educate myself. What's hypocritical about that?

I totaly agree with you. However, I am confused by people who breed a litter then spay/neuter them all before they go to new homes. How can you spay/neuter them at such an early age? Why breed a litter at all if not for the future of the breed, therefore, why spay/neuter the pups? Too many people do breed for the money so it should be pointed out that things do go wrong and it is rare for a good breeder to actualy be in profit when all the pups are homed.
Rather than spay/neuter all pups a good breeder will put breeding restrictions on all pups they sell. Admittedly the only thing that is restricted is the registration of the pups with the KC but it means no pups could be sold with papers.
As for the person mentioned, they sound about 14yrs old or so even though they say they have a good job. Where are the parents? I find it hard to believe this is an adult or am I just naive?
I would NEVER under any circumstances encourage anybody to breed from their pets!

I have had a look at that link and can't believe how irresponsible that person is.
Why would someone breed if they don't have any money for the vet? And most importantly, this person has no idea whatsoever about animal care.
I guess for many people it is a quick financial fix, they think they can sell the pups for a few quid and get some new clothes or something else pointless.
The way this person writes also seems like she hasn't been to school. Probably some backyard breeder.
Simply disgusting!

I have checked this person't previous question and she is actually saving money to buy two labradors in 2009. It sounds like she wants to backyard breed, wanting to buy 2 dogs and not being able to pay the vet for the others, even having to let puppies die. I wish someone who knows this person reports her to the ASPCA or RSPCA
Added: She apparently went to the vet, only after asking AGAIN for a phone number, I think this is a spoof

The only time I think I've "encouraged" someone is by acknowledging that she loved her dog and pointed her to www.learntobreed.com. I got the feeling that she was doing it for the love of her dog, and that's an easy thing to realize that spaying the girl would help so much.

I've always been a part of the spay/neuter police. I've never had an intact pet, and never seen them suffer for it. In fact, I'm baffled at hormonal female dogs, because it's amazing how "even" fixed ones are.

I think that, even though I haven't experienced it, breeding is something you're never totally ready for until it happens, but that's not to say that you can't be better off by doing some serious reading. If I haven't come across as 100% behind the spay/neuter police, then I apologize. :) Sometimes I like to take a gentler tone.

I do not ever give breeding advice because I refuse to help backyard breeders. If they do not know what they are doing and need to come her looking for answers they should not be breeding. It irks me to no end when others say they have to learn somewhere. YA is not the place to research!!!

I have one comment, unfortunately that question is not much different then the questions I see here all the time. It seems people are greedy, cheap and lazy and for some the sole purpose of owning an animal is so that they will have a living ATM.

At the end of the day they have a right to exist in a free country. You might not agree with what they stand for but if you do not want to live in a country where freedom of speech/beleif is curtailed (and there are plenty of these, most of the inhabitants are desperate to get OUT!) You have to support their right to exist. Their membership list being stolen and posted on the net was very wrong. As Beastie says, this has infringed the rights of these UK citizens by plastering their political beleifs all over the internet. Like it or not, the BNP are a legal political party and should not be subject to this anymore than any other political party. I am not a BNP member or supporter but I do support their right to exist because I do not want to live in any country where the Government tell us what to think and believe.

I won't even buy a pet from a breeder. I go to the shelter.
I help a group of women that belong to an animal welfare organization to feed a group of feral cats. They regularly do trap and release. They trap so they can spay/neuter in order to control the population. I saw 3 kittens the other day. I tried to capture them but they are still so young and they ran away. I did not want to traumatize them.
I think sometimes that people enjoy being ignorant or are afraid of acquiring knowledge because that may mean that they will have to change and people are generally resistant to change?

I am a card carrying spay/neuter police member!
Luckily there are only a few people on here that constantly condone irresponsible breeding.
I am fine with responsible breeding, but the thing is that no responsible breeder needs to ask questions here because they have already educated themselves and know what they are doing.
I have been in dog rescue my whole life, and with that experience under my belt, I can tell you that no good at all ever comes from backyard breeding.

I'm one of those spay /neuter police, too, and I get thumbs down as well when I advise people to forget about breeding. Now,this girl has a dying puppy with a potentially contagious disease, and no money for a vet! Can't these peolpe think? Do they not have any common sense? I don't know if it's just me,but people seem to be getting more and more irresponsible when it comes to breeding animals and wanting every kind of hybrid dog they can come up with. I just pity the animals.

I dont know. I can't believe the number of people giving breeding advice to people on here!! And when I give reasons to spay and neuter, I get thumbs down. I watched a utube video narrated by Joaquin Phoenix on the overpopulation of pets in this country (and in others) - how they are destroyed and I have never cried so hard in my entire life. The video haunts me still. And that's all I think about when morons say "when can I breed my 8 month old mixed mutt weiner dog with my neighbor's bulldog?"

My answer is always the same. Before you breed, walk through the local animal shelter and see how many dogs need homes - ask them how many dogs won't be there tomorrow because they are slated for euthanasia or worse yet, death in a gas chamber - and know that if you breed your dog, you are signing the death certificate for those shelter dogs.

If you are asking how to breed questions on yahoo answers, you are not knowledgeable, you are not ready to breed, your dog doesn't meet correct standards, your dog probably isn't "purebred" like you say that it is, and you are just contributing to the overpopulation of pets in this country. but what do I know, I neutered all my pets (all 4 of them).
