California can be quite warm for a large long coated dog. My shepherd likes cooler temps.

Try Shilo shepards which are founded on large boned longcoated GSDs
Tervs are smaller then GSD's

The only place I know of in CA is in patrol cars. Those puppy dogs are far-and-few-between. Very hard to find because they are such good protectors so law enforcement likes them.

What you are looking for sounds more like a Belgian sheepdog or a Belgian Tervuren. Perhaps google for images of those breeds, they sound more similar to what you are looking for.

Those are hard to find in the U.S in general, they are more popular in Germany. I tried to find one too, all i got was Germany.
