Wet food is better. Most people think that dry food helps clean teeth, but in reality, the starches in dry food stick to teeth and create plaque and other dental problems. Most dogs on a kibble diet end up with tartar or periodontal disease within two years. Wet food is better because it contains more moisture and is less processed. There are no "odd things" in it if you choose a quality food like Canidae or Innova Evo.

Quality Dry kibble.. No Iams/Eukanuba, NO Purina, No Kibbles N Bits, No Science Diet, No Beneful, No Pedigree, NO OL ROY.. To name a few.. ALL GARBAGE FOODS.. If you are going to feed a crappy dog food you might as well let your dog eat right out of your own garbage can at home... Feed good quality kibble, and you'll see the vet a whole lot less with those chronic health issues...

We have always used a really good brand of dry dog food in a size especially for that size dog.
For the first time, we are using canned dog food because of our chihuahua's teeth problems.

I've always fed mine a mixture of both, mostly dry, with some canned mixed in for flavor and some extra protein. You need to buy a good brand, though, something without a lot of fillers.Or,you can just leave dry out for them all the time, and feed the canned as a treat.Bil -Jac frozen dog food is a good alternative to canned,or you can feed it in additon to the canned and dry ( I do.)

It is better to feed them dry if you can get them to eat it, you might have to put a small amount of the canned food in it to get them started. When you use the dry, it also makes the stool not be so soft and will be easier to clean behind them if they should have an accident.

Contrary to popular belief dry food does NOT prevent tooth issues nor does it clean teeth..Wet food does NOT cause tooth problems either.
Wet food is actually a good choice if you get a quality food and not one of the store brands. It contains more meat and less carbs then dry.
A good balance is to mix dry & wet together.

dry dog food is much better for a pet than wet food. Dry food will help control tartar and gum disease, while wet food enhances mouth problems. Wet food can also cause GI upset.. stick with dry, even if wet is suppose to taste better, dry is much better for their health!

Dry food is alway's better! It's better for their teeth. Wet food leaves alot of bacteria behind in their mouths, which leads to teeth and gum problems.
