Hi...I just bought a Havanese puppy and this is her second day with me. She loves to go in her crate but she does not want to come out. She hides in the back and sometimes makes little cries. Although she is constantly wagging her tail and she is so excited to come out but she just won't come. She'll get 1/2 way out and then go back. I've bribed her with treats, no use. Also...I have been leaving the door open and she just pokes her head out. Has this happened to anyone, if so any advice? Thanks!

Hello. I have a 21 Months old Cavalier Girl ( Annie) and I am 100%, that I willget also a second dog. But I am not sure about the breed. The Cavalier is very beautiful, easy to train, but I dont like that she ( and other cavies I know ) is soooo friendly to strangers, she runs to everybody, she wants to cuddle with people she doesn`t know, well, you get the picture. :-) Maybe I am strange, but I am more a quiet person and I don`t like a lot of people around me.ok, and I am a littel jelaous then. :-) well, I have been thinking, that maybe a breed that is more careful with strangers would be better for me?! Like the Tibetan Terrier. I was thinking about this breed also before I got Annie ( and the tibetan spaniel was also on the list). I know some TT breeders and some TT`s and I like them a lot ( their looks and their personality), but I love the Cavie too. Just don`t know what to do...Please help.....

I posted a question yesterday about having my dog spayed (thanks for all the lovely replies) but i have just found out she has something a little more serious wrong with her. after having her last litter of pups she got an infection somehow that nobody knew about and it has made her stomach swell up and become rock hard. i havent been told what it actually is, although a vet told my mum its a disease. so they definately have to operate to take her womb out to get rid of the disease, but im not sure if its still classed as spaying them? my mum looked up on the internet that the operation she is having only has 25% of dogs that make it through, so im very upset and worried. shes finding it very hard to breath as the swelling is pressing on her lungs, and when they sedate her im scared it will be too strong for her and she wont wake up from lack of oxygen. does anyone know anything about this? or their dog had it and survived? shes having the op first thing tomorrow morning. ty

Hi
This has been going on for some time(at least 6 months)and no training has helped, he was neutered in April and there is as yet no change...he is 20 months old .
He has never bitten anyone or showed signs of and is a very submissive friendly dog with people he knows but if anyone talks to me when we go for a walk he barks like a warning to them if children are around or run up he is very aggressive towards them(despite being raised with them)the trouble is we live in an apartment and we have to go otu the main doors well that is a nightmare as everyone we pass he goes for and if they talk to me or him he gets worse(it does look quite aggressive)in the house he is perfectly behaved, quiet, loving and very gentle and when ppl come in he is gentle with them and enjoys a fuss.....i exercise him plenty and have tried diet changes and stimulating games etc but so far he is getting worse and i fear he is going to get a complaint and end up being taken from me :( anyone got any ideas ,thank

We moved into our neighhood about 3 moths ago, since we have been in this house my husband has treated my neightbor horrible just because he didn't like their dogs. Well Friday my sons was out side playing when they fell into the pool. They are 3 yrs so they do not know how to swim. My husband looked out the window just in time to see both of my neighbors dogs ( they are Newfoundlands) jumping our fence. They had heard our sons fall into the water and rescued them. If it hadn't been for those animals, both of my kids would have been dead right now. We have been afraid of these huge dogs since we have lived here and now they saved my kids. What would be the best way to apologize to these neighbors that we have treated so badly?

I have a 1 1/2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has the friendliest soul, he is excellent with other animals and would never hurt a fly!!!
I am going to get a puppy soon not sure what breed, probably another Cavalier or a Boxer, or maybe another pedigree puppy, this one will be a female, I was just wondering if they would get along and if so, would the puppy still want lots of attention from me or will he always be with my other dog?

Hi! I have recently adopted a brand new pup (about 8 1/2 weeks old) and have been feeding him what the breeder fed him (Hills Science Diet). HOWEVER, I know that this is not the best dog food. I understand all about fillers, corn, etc... basically, things my pup should not be eating. I've noted recently that although he is playful, he is CONSTANTLY hungry, sometimes VERY SLEEPY, his coat is a bit dull, and he has these white bumps on his scalp. Oh, and his breath STINKS!!!!!!!!! After reading customer testimonials on various premium dog food websites, I've learned about the influence, power, and importance of a GOOD dog food. I have been researching dog foods lately, and I would love to be given some reccomendations on what I should feed him. (Just to note: He is full Doberman Pinscher).

Please, if you have a fantastic dog eating a fantastic food, tell me what you're feeding your dog!

Real answers please, this is a real question.

Best answer gets the points.

I want to a pat dog thats going to be grown in a apartment. I want a dog that is mid-ferocious, mid-size, needs less grooming , less exercise needs. I found Labrador to be suitable for my needs. What are your suggestions on that, what are the other dogs that qualify? What are things i need to look for before buying a dog. Thank you.

i've inherited a 4 year old pekinese male. kind of previously neglected. trying to domesticate him but he has bitten us 3 times. he lets us pet him, loves it when we take him out for walks but when it comes to food, he can be mean.

is there a dog whisperer that can help us? it's not his fault he is this way but we don't want him to be put down so we keep him, but, is it worth paying someone lots of money to train him?

we let him run around in our back yard during the days where it is sunny and shady, feed him 3 times a day, talk to him, pet him. he stay in the house in the eveining. our vet said he is healthy except needs a good wash, hair cut, and teeth brushing.

"cutting" him is not an alternative.

are we way over our heads?

Gucci is 5 years old and she injured her knee joint! She limps and we have had her looked at and they say surgery will lay her up for 5 weeks and it might be best to see how she does without it. Her foot is atrophying due to her not using it as much and I can't stand to see her limp anymore. What are the risks....How much is surgery and what should I do. They also said there is no guarentee she will be better and might be in pain after all is said and done. She is peppy...but knows she is injured and her quality of life is not 100%. Please dont say put her down because it is not an option. I can let her limp or get surgery...its her right back leg....Any advice would be appreciated. She loves to run around but when I let her...she acts like she is not injured and then later she limps worse and it makes me feel terrible. She is a terrior lab mix 35 lbs. Her sister is a chow and wants to play with her and she cant really play too much without suffering the consequences later.

I think it would go a long way to helping with the pet overpopulation. Alot of people refuse to get their pets altered because they dont agree with de-sexing them, or they dont want to spend a lot of money at once. If there was birth control for dogs I think alot more people would use it. Is it impractical? impossible? or why haven't they developed such a thing as of yet?
