If you can keep the dog in your basement or spare room or whereever - friends house ???
In the morning - call / Take itto the local vet thy can check for a tatoo ( usuall in ear or on belly /flank , and scan for microchip
also they can search as to what beelly surgeries have been done lately in area - or may even know the dog !!-- post ads/flyers on poles in neighbourhood - most papers offer FREE Found ads - have people ID dog before giving it to them though...
If someone took the time to get the dog stitches they are probably very worried about the animal & it may need medication.
Good luck to you & fluffy !!

Call local vet offices
See if they have a dog that recently had some kind of surgery
(if this is a female dog, depending on where on the stomach, could be a recent Spaying)
Describe the dog
Ask if they can help locate the owner
also, some dogs are microchipped, ask if the vets office has chipreader.. if so, that is an easy solution
Bless your heart for taking the dog in & helping it find it's way back :)

Take him to the local pound/spca/humane society, or a vet. The stitches would suggest recent treatment.
Many dogs are microchipped and can be scanned for address information of their owners. As well the dog's owners (if he is wanted) will likely look at the pound first to find him. An ad in the newspaper sometimes works as well.
Good luck

It relies upon on some issues. First, has your canines ever been pronounced for attacking yet another animal ? 2d, no count if or no longer the proprietors of the small canines come to a type to prosecute. If no possible teach which canines surely killed the little canines, then possibility is that the two larger canines would be blamed the two. additionally, how usually grow to be the little canines allowed to roam loose? If the little canines grow to be not at all on a leash, or fenced in, then the owner relatively shouldn't take criminal action, reason they of course did no longer care too plenty with regard to the canines, or they might have tied it up. It additionally relies upon on the regulations on your county. i'd touch a criminal expert who knows the regulations approximately animals the place you reside. better of success!!

If it has stitches then it has recently been to a vet. Call local vet offices and describe the dog, you may also bring the dog into a vets office and they will see if he has a micro chip in his ear (it's a chip they insert with all his owners information) You may also put an add in the paper, and call local boarding kennels too (sometimes they can identify thier clients). Call the humane society to see if any one has called to see if the dog is there. Good luck!

It sounds like a female that was just spayed. I would watch the paper in the lost and found and see if anyone puts an ad in the paper about her. I would also notify all of the vets offices in the area that you found a dog and ask if any of them just performed surgery on the dog you found. They may be able to tell you who the dog belongs to.

If you can't locate the owner with any of the advice already given, you had best take it to the pound. Then the owners can reclaim the pup. Most pounds will hold the animal for around a week, if no results they will try to adopt the dog back out.
Check with your local pound to be sure of their policies.

Take it to a vet to scan for a chip. Good chance that the animal needs medications of it has stitches. Put up ads on posters (no pic), everywhere, vet, SPCA, in and around where you live. Schools, colleges, cafe's, everywhere.

Take it to a vet to have it scanned it could very well be micro chipped. If not the vet can help you find it's owner also by contacting other vets about recent surgeries performed.

Take him/her to a shelter or vet and see if its chipped.
If it isn't, put up pictures and contact information and check out the lost dog section of the paper.
