Hello. I have a 21 Months old Cavalier Girl ( Annie) and I am 100%, that I willget also a second dog. But I am not sure about the breed. The Cavalier is very beautiful, easy to train, but I dont like that she ( and other cavies I know ) is soooo friendly to strangers, she runs to everybody, she wants to cuddle with people she doesn`t know, well, you get the picture. :-) Maybe I am strange, but I am more a quiet person and I don`t like a lot of people around me.ok, and I am a littel jelaous then. :-) well, I have been thinking, that maybe a breed that is more careful with strangers would be better for me?! Like the Tibetan Terrier. I was thinking about this breed also before I got Annie ( and the tibetan spaniel was also on the list). I know some TT breeders and some TT`s and I like them a lot ( their looks and their personality), but I love the Cavie too. Just don`t know what to do...Please help.....

Hello.

If you feel that you can commit to another dog (emotionally, fiancially, etc.) and you are very interested in the Tibetan Terrier, then go for it. If your Cavalier is as out going and friendly as you say she is she will have no trouble accepting a brother or sister into the home. She will love having a companion to play with.

Although you perhaps don't see it in the same way I do, I think the fact that your Cavalier is friendly towards strangers is a fantastic thing. Cavaliers SHOULD be friendly and welcoming to strangers and I would much rather own a confidant, out going dog then one that is reserved and aloof. Don't forget that part of her over enthusiasm for strangers is due to her age -- my Labradors were EXACTLY the same when they were her age but they do grow out of it. Solid training really helps, too.

Good luck. I hope you find your perfect dog!
