He won't let my boyfriend touch me without trying to nip at him. Even if he tries to put his hand on my leg, my dog, will go right at him. My dog is so protective of me it's driving me nuts. I can't even get close to another male person. He's ok with female people, but if a man comes to visit or something, he will try to keep him away from me. How can I stop this, it's getting worse and worse and I don't want to neuter him yet as I am breeding him in the Autumn time. Please help! I'm desperate. If me and my boyfriend are in bed, my dog will go nuts when my boyfriend tries to cuddle me or anything. I can't leave him outside the bedroom door cause he'll bark all night and wake the neighbors. I live in an apt. building. Any ideas?

She hasnt really eaten anything in last 3 days got her to eat a lil bit of jerky last night which she gobbled down like she was starving ,Today you can tell she wants it but wont eat it.She is still drinking water tho.Except for the actually bringing something up she has all symptoms of a cat that has a severe hairball in its intestinal tract. Took her to vet and all they want is for you to spend hundreds of dollars for a bunch of tests not even relating to the possibility of a hairball.Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I am not sure how much longer she will last if I cant do something to help her.

do you think banning pitbulls will solve any issues with dog attacks. i believe banning them will only solve a fraction of what the true problem is. the ignorant owners who let there dogs be this mean should be punished. What do you think?

I have taken her to the vet and gotten the Cortizon shot, which does not help the constant itching or biting, they even prescribed her a little yellow allergy pill, which failed as well. My poor dog is now getting a bald back, near her butt and a bald tail (those are the main places she bites). The vet told me I can give her 1-2 Benadryl a day ...which seem to work as long as I keep them in her system ... she is just really lazy after those though. Is there any other option that anyone knows of that could help her allergies ..maybe something the vet isn't telling me? The vet I take her to is very paticular with the way he does things, and I fear he maybe isn't telling me about other options out there.

What is it with these dog breeders who do not know things like how long the gestation period is, how to qualify a false pregnancy from a real one, if the dam has any milk, what to do if she doesn't.

These are things (and there are a bunch more) which should be 'known' BEFORE the important decision is made to put a litter on the ground. What on earth is going on here?

I want to buy Advantage that is a 10 month supply. I will have to measure the correct dosage. Buying it this way is about half the cost of the premeasured tubes. Has anyone used it? Other than making sure the dose is correct, is there anything else I should know?

I have a female toy poodle as a pet. Now she's 2 years old.

Some people said that I must breed the dog at least once or twice in her life so she'll be healthier.

But the problem is my dog isn't a good breed. Her skin is sensitive and even have mites before. The vet said this is the problem of her gens. I'm just afraid by breeding this dog will leave a big problem to the puppies' owner. I don't want them spend a lot of money taking the puppies to vets like I did.

So another thing came into my mind, spaying. But some of the dog owners said spaying a dog will increase the risk of my dog having cancer and obesity.

So what should I do?

American Bulldog - Akita's-Rottweillers-Mastiffs (all) - Shar Pei -Doberman - Or any other recoginsed guard dog breeds:

What is the main difference you find between the Male Dog and Female Dog when it comes to protecting your home and family. Is one more alert than the other. Does one bark more. Tell me stories and name the breed please. **note to anyone who does not like the question - you don't have to answer. This is a web site about all aspects of dogs. Some breeds only exist today because of guard work. (dobermans are a prime example of this) I see no reason why people cannot own dogs that are loving pets and protectors of the home. So for those who own guard dogs please help me by answering the above question. I already own a Male Japanese Akita and I am thinking of getting a Female Akita. I am interested in all breed of guard dogs though and would be very keen to get an overview of the dogs guarding ability for both sexes.
