This happens a lot. Their teeth rot or fall out so the tongues don't stay in.

Because that breed of dog (don't remember the name) is prone to it's teeth falling out. I watched the contest and Elwood's owner answered that very question.

That particular breed of dog tend to have a lot of dental problems, usually resulting in the loss of their teeth. Therefore, they have nothing to hold their tongues in. You will notice this a lot on their breed.

it is due to one of teh problems with his breed they loose their teeth at a very early age and therefore nothing to hold the tongue in.
However this happpens with all dogs who loose their teeth.
And why young pups before they get their teeth do this

he has a face deformaty he also has no teeth, this equals ugly dog with tongue hanging out
