im prolly going to be adopting a 9 mo old chihuahua. The breeder and him are extremely close. How do I get him to like me? Any advice on adopting a chihuahua??
PS i don't drive my mom is- and what do i do in the car?

The dog will come to love you with time. If you are the one that feeds him and trains him, he will look to you as the Alpha. It's best to have a cage in the car for the safety of everybody.

Sounds exciting!
The dog will soon enough forget about the breeder but in the mean time... bring some special dog treats with you and slip him a few, this will make him LOVE you! In the car just give him love and affection all you can do is love him as much as possible and eventually he will love you back. Remember he is only 9 months... still young... still learning!

Congratulations!! When you start to spend time with him he lose his love for the breeder and fall in love with you. I think you should get him a small crate for traveling in the car. Because he is so small he can fit in small areas and it is best that he stay put in a crate. Do not sleep with him, make him sleep in a crate, do not leave food down for him all the time feed him 2 meals a day. Doing these things will help show him you are the leader. good luck and hope he works out for ya

The dog will take to you fairly quickly, make sure the first few weeks he stays with you and doesn't get passed around too much. This will help him settle in and see who takes care of him, chihuahua's are very territorial about there owners (not that they are mean to other people - if you socialize them!) and so he will attach to you very quickly. There is a great website that we just started all about how to care for, train, groom, and socialize your chihuahua. It has great information when starting with a new puppy!

Lots of love will make him love you. Also sign up for a training class. The time you spend together will help the two of you bond and make him a better family member!

Love for the most part. i don't suggest the dog treats as he may get sick in the car.
Check with the breeder about any low sugar problems and find out about having nutrical on hand for sugar drops.
Also if you can I suggest dog obedience class through the learning he should learn to focus on you and that should also help.
make sure you are teh one that feeds him and walks him so he can learn to depend on you.
If he isn't fixed I would suggest getting that done as soon as possible.
