My puppy has baby ticks, I can take them off and pop them to kill them but what else can I do to get rid of them?

There are shampoos that will kill the ticks. From what I've heard, the ones at Wal-Mart aren't that good, so the best bet would be to buy some from the vet. They'll explain the best way to use it. You could also use either Adams or Frontline spray to spray on it and kill them (the puppy has to be at least 8 weeks old to use the topical in the box). You could also dip it in Paramite or Mitaban.

You want to get rid of them, because that could turn into a serious thing. We've had a couple of dogs that had so many ticks on them we needed to do a blood transfusion because they had lost so much blood. We sprayed the flea/tick spray and killed some, then washed and soaked them twice in the shampoo. There were still some alive because there were so many, so we had so bathe it again the next day to get rid of the rest. One of them ended up dying because it was brought to us too late.

Do NOT pop the ticks..this releases the toxins in them.

Use a good tick product from the vet.

Use a product like Advantix or Frontline. Check her daily to remove the ticks. They can spread some diseases in as little as 5 hours. Don't use your bare hands--grab them close to the head with tweezers and slowly pull off.

firstly don't pop the ticks. they can spread disease that way. you can kill them with alcohol or by giving them the flush.

make sure your pup is washed regularly, and his/her bed too, as ticks and other parasites can live in the bedding. Comb/brush him/her down daily and check for and kill ticks, esp. after going outdoors. this will all help to minimise a tick population.
You can also use a store bought tick repelent, but a chemical free way to repel ticks is to dab some lavander oil between the shoulderblades. lavander repels ticks and flies, smells good too :)
