maltese puppies,should i get a male or female?

Question

i was planning on getting a female because i heard it is easier to train and potty train andstuff but i recently had a friend tell me that males are alot easier because females will cost more in the long run..because they get there periods and they could get breast cancer and it costs more to spay them..i dont want to pay to much for this sog because i cant afford to pay too much extra just because of its sex
i also heard its vaccines are more and i should get a male...
what do you you guys think is better for me to get

im sorry my question isnt clear...is it really more expensive to have a female..and i also would like a reason whyyou chose a certain sex!

from what i observe, females are more protective and loyal. dogs are only in heat every six months. not that they need tampons and whatnots so it's only the cleaning part. and i'm sure chances of getting breast cancer compared to other deadly diseases are quite low, so don't worry. so the cost in the long run should be the same regardless of gender.

but seeing that you want a maltese and not an alsatian, the guarding your property part is less important than looking good, so i would say a male.

and if you choose to save and not neuter, at most your pretty male maltese only knocks up other female dogs. no puppies to worry about!

either sex it actually depends on the exact pup as the learning not the sex.
Yes a female cost more to spay, call the vets that you plan to use or call around and ask how much a spay versus a neuter would be.
As far as shots they get the same shots-3 boosters as pups then yearly and rabies at 4 months the first is a booster and good for 1 year then every 3 years.
if you get you female spayed at 5 months you shouldn't have to worry about the heat( period) and yes they can get different types of cancers but the males are also susceptible to male type cancers. ( if you check the breeder out make sure there isn't cancer running in her lines of breeding and you should be fine most like people are hereditary. And if you get either sex fixed it helps to prevent a lot of the problems.

Male dogs may be wilder, but female dogs run away more. They are the ones that want to find a mate. My dog would run away if she could. So you either have to deal with craziness or running away. I'd go with craziness any day.

Female dogs are always more mellow and easier to train. Male dogs usually are more wild. That's from my experiences.
