something along the lines of a hunting dog. a lab maybe or a type of spaniel. maybe even a husky if you are up for a challenge.
NOT a greyhound. greyhounds are couch potatoes and are sprinters so they can only run in short bursts. very few ever adapt to jogging.
also stick with dogs that weigh less than 100 pounds. anything over that and they would likely develop joint problems over time.

I think an English Springer Spaniel would be a good choice for you. They are medium sized, energetic dogs with very stable temperaments. I wouldn't suggest a large breed (or giant) as they are prone to many joint/bone problems (elbow dysplasia, hip dysplasia, arthritis etc.) and jogging at any age wouldn't help his bones.

I'd guess either a: lab, golden retriever, boston terrior, or a great dane. Heck even a grey hound. Any dog is good for running, except small ones like a chawahwa.

I'd suggest a Collie (Bearded, Border Australian etc) They are all full of energy and loyal too.
I would say stay away from very large breeds as you may have health problems as they get older.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you have a dog try encouraging him every time he runs
like give him a treat Smackos is a really good treat for dogs
If you dont have a dog Try Getting a Jack Russel They are really energetic i have one and he is adorable and fun

Get a hound, Beagle, Coon hound, Bloodhound, Basset and the list goes on. They are hunting dogs and can run for hours. The will outlast you.

A German Shepard, they are protective of the person who trains and runs with them. They love running and attention. I walk and jog with mine all the time :)
