Please, no smart *** comments on this one. And I know I can take her to the vet and get an "autopsy" done so please don't suggest that. She is 6 human years old and was just fine yesterday. No recent changes to her diet or any other significant changes. When I went to feed her and my other dog this morning she didn't come greet me as usual and I found her laying in a little whole she dug for herself breathing very hard. No blood or signs of injury but she did not respond when I called her or touched her, just kind of stared into the dirt blinking every now and then. Her ears didn't even flinch or anything. I called the vet and they told me to bring her in and by the time I went back outside to get her (like a 20 minute time lapse) she was dead. There is no vomit or odd droppings in the yard. Anyone know what may have happened? I am taking my other dog to get checked to make sure he is not sick as well. He is acting fine at this point if anyone cares.

I have recently moved into a new home and I was thinking about getting a dog. I was doing a little research and sort have become attached to the appearance of the Bull Terrier. I have always had cats, and I dont know how rhis dog's personality is. I am looking for a small dog, that is good with young children and not so high maintnence because I am a full time student and would only be there during the early morining and late afternoon. If anybody has an advice on the bull terrier or any other type of dog that would fit theses decriptions, please let me know! Thanks!

I've tried steroid shots, Dinovite, bathing her in chlorine-free water, medicated shampoos and dips. Everything works for a few days or weeks, but nothing works long-term. Has anybody found something that will work permanently?

I'm getting 4 German Shephard Mixes from an animal rescue today. I live on 5 acres of fenced in land. Do I still have to walk my dogs even though they have all that space or would it be best not to?

I have a 15 mo old dog who is very active (and hyper) and jumps on everyone. He was in obedience school for about six months and I trained him not to jump, so now he doesn't jump on me but he jumps on everyone else. Any suggestions? He's about 65 lbs and I don't want him to hurt anyone.

Are pigs ears a safe and healthy treat for dogs? I have a 4 month old pom and she can spend hours chewing one! I've read some bad things about them (they could carry salmonella bacteria) and good things (they won't splinter/crack and they have a high fat content which promotes healthy skin & coat). My pom isn't a fan of hooves and i know rawhide can be a dangerous choking hazard. What do you think? Do you give pig ears to your dog?

Sorry if this is kind of gross...

I am looking after my parents' dog while they are on vacation. She's 13 years old, and has been pooping in my house. I noticed that her poop has a bit of blood in it - bright red, and slimy. She is acting normal, she sleeps a lot but that's not out of the ordinary. She's happy and has lots of energy when she's awake. My brother seems to think it's just caused by stress because she is away from my mom. Should I take her to the vet? Thanks!

I have a 6 1/2 month old Saint Bernard pup. I try not to bathe him so often but after about a week after his bath he starts to really smell awful and the whole house smells like him (so we have to bathe him again). He is really getting big and more difficult to bathe each time. Help please. Thanks.

My last question was about kids and dogs, alot of people mentioned that kids sometimes cause bites because of their actions.. such as pulling a dogs tail, poking, prodding hugging etc. But, isnt it our responsibility as dog owners to teach our dogs to tolerate such things and thereby reduce the risk of an aggressive reaction to a childs actions? What I mean is in general from the answers to my previous question I can conclude that most people expect children NOT to do those things around a dog.. I think that is avoiding the issue, isnt it better to train the dog to tolerate such things rather than taking the chance that someone might accidentally provoke the dog and cause a bite? All of my dogs are poked, prodded, blown in the face, pulled tail etc by me on purpose regularly so as to desensitize them to taking offence to such things.. because of that they have a high tolerance and dont react aggressively to such actions. Shouldnt we all make sure to do that to our dogs and reduce the

My question is in regard s to fence's. At our old house we had a wooden privacy fence for our 5 Bullmastiffs. The dogs loved it of course and we loved it for the dogs. However we have moved now and we own some land for the kids and all of the animals but I need to fence in a portion of the yard for the dogs but a chain length does not work well due to one of our females is an escape artist. She can bust almost anything. My husband wants to do a field fence for the dogs but that seems like it would not hold these guys in and I hate to put up a wooden fence because this time it would not be attached to the house and I would not get to see my dogs unless I went inside the fence w/ them. What other types of fences do they offer that is strong enough to keep my ponies inside the yard?

I have a corgi mix. No idea what he is mixed with. When he wants attention he will lightly nip at our legs, feet, etc. He is not biting, it is more like a pinch. He also like to nip my nose when I am close and petting him. He does not do this with my wife. Any ideas?

Ok, I'll be taking my dog to the vets as soon as my hubby can get home (I dont drive), but was hoping someone here could give me an idea of what might be wrong. We picked bailey (our dog) up from the boarding kennels he's been in since Friday this morning and was told he had been 'coughing up bits' as if you'd had a nosebleed sorta thing. Well since getting him home he's come running into me with bright red blood smeared up the side of his face. He hadnt coughed, it had been brought up silently, there was still blood on his tongue at the back and gums when I looked. Although now there is no sign of any damage to inside his mouth so I can only assume he's bringing up the blood rather than bleeding from the mouth.
What can cause this, I'm really worried.
Any ideas?
