Our dog will not shut up?

Question

she starts any time and barks in any position even lying down we have tried every thing even a spray collar but she found if she barks enough it stops. she has toys chewables we let her run with the neighbors dog for two hours a day. i want to buy a shock collar and set it to deep fry or somthing. I don't really like or care about her even our dogless neighbors complained and im wating for them to take it to court. There is no wildlife but birds and we own one. she is definately not bored. i'd take a gun to her head if i could

Give the poor dog to someone who has more time and love for her.

I have to wonder whether you might be inadvertently encouraging her to bark, without knowing it. This can very easily happen, especially if one does not understand dogs! This is because they view almost ANY response from you as a reward, and more so when they are not receiving caring affection from their 'provider'.

Suggestions:

DO NOT respond to her barking
with ANY:
words, or
eye contact, or
touch, or even a
sigh of frustration, or
a change of posture!

Ignore her & walk away...
When she follows --if still barking--
- turn away from her & walk in another direction.
Keep it up, as long as she is barking...

HOWEVER...

As SOON as she goes silent
--even if only for a few seconds--
*PRAISE her &
*PET her &
*TALK to her &
*PLAY with her...
but, only until she begins to bark again...
If/when she does, simply begin ignoring her in every possible way again... until she falls silent again, & then begin* again.

I can hear you protesting that she is NEVER quiet, so how will you ever be able to praise-train her?

For starters --when she barks-- startle her big time.
You can do this by making any LARGE, SUDDEN noise, such as by slamming your foot down, or banging 2 plastic containers together, or making any othe rnoise that will get her attention... AS SOON as she STOPS barking, begin the reinforcement of that behavior, by praising & playing & talking to her.

This method --if done consistently-- will eventually work. CONSISTENCY & THOROUGHNESS are the keys to its success. You can never go back to giving her any response when she barks, or she will unlearn it again.

In other words, *REWARD* her for her silencewhile IGNORING--DISCIPLINING her for barking!

I have 2 large dogs, & this is the method I used to train my Rottweiller to stop threatening her smaller 'sister' at mealtime.
I instituted as her reward, 'other behavior' for her to engage in--fetch & taking a walk, instead. She now brings me her ball when she's finished eating, rather than stealing the other dog's food. It has lasted 5 years, now... (;

People like you should go to jail!!! how can you say that u will kill u r dog. In the 1st place why did u even get a dog if you don't have the patience to take care of them, if you don't want her anymore take her to the shelter but don't torture her she has feelings the same way humans do. HELL was created for people like you who mistreat other people, animals ect.
I would like to tell everything I think about you but this page is not big enough. Karma will take care of you if you do something to that dog.

some people are just not PET PEOPLE...your one of them......... please give the dog away...you'll be happier and so will the dog. a person who loves dogs will be able to take care of the barking problem without a shock collar or taking a gun to her head.....

Why on earth do you have a dog that you admittedly dont like!! Why don't you take her to your local shelter or give her to someone with an actual heart. While your at it, take the bird too!! Sounds like you don't need to have ANY animals in your life and I hope that you don't have any children!!!

If you hate your dog so much do her a favor and get her a good home. Dont hurt the dog. Maybe she senses that you dont like her so she just wants to anoy and bug you in return. Find her a good home with someone who will work with her and not want to kill her.

your dog is bored, get it something to do...toys...something to keep it occupied..and I believe a shock collar would help tremendously...it worked well for my daughters dog with the same problem

Deep down inside, you dont really want this dog, do you?

Do her and yourself and your neighbors a favor. Take her to the local rescue society/humane society and let someone adopt her.

She won't shut up cause you are an idiot owner who didn't take the time to trainer.. Typical idiot owner who doesn't train then complains about the dog.. Find her another home.. She knows your an idiot and she is sick of hanging with ya..
