A good cooked diet of human foods for dogs is a little more complicated than just feeding chicken and rice. If you prepare a cooked diet properly, it is healthier than feeding dog food. If you prepare your dog's food yourself, you can select higher quality ingredients and omit lower quality ingredients; you can avoid tainted food and chemicals/antibiotics/hormones that are not healthy. I feed a carefully constructed raw food diet to my dogs. I think this is healthiest. If I could no longer feed raw for whatever reason (cannot imagine why, but for the sake of argument), cooking would be my second choice.

I feed mine vegis but the get meat to a good ratio i go by is a 2;1 meat;vegi so 2 scoops of meat to one of the vegies .
carrots are great mine get the ends and the skin boiled lightly. i do give potato skins but very little..they love broccoli and turup tops spinich green beans, limas. i use no salt but have found it cheaper and A TON easier to buy frozen bags on sale.boil so much up then use it all week to feed the dogs.
do some home cooking searches for dog...the raw diet...which mine get however i do cook the veggies i feel that no dog is gonna go dig up a carrot....however a prey animal will and it has allready eatten it so its digested. sooo cooking it will break down what dogs have a hard time digesting....

Here is the truth. Dogs are not omnivoires. They are carnivoires. There for they should have a mostly meat diet. Feeding to many vegies can cause an animals PH to change in their body. Being to acidic or to alkaline is not good for a person let a lone a dog. Try to stick to a well balanced, nutritous dog food, and stay away from the cooked vegies. Good Luck.

Absolutely! In fact, I suggest putting some veggies in their diet along with their dry food. The extra vitamins they'll recieve will do them good. It doesn't necessarily have to be cooked, although it would be easier for them to digest. I usually will add some broccoli or some left over cooked veggies from dinner on top of my dogs' dry food.
Sometimes in the morning I will add some fruit in their meal if we have some, like a banana or two.

Yeah, meat, veggies and fruit all great for them. Raw veggies are better because they help clean their teeth at the same time.
My dogs food everyday consists of;
1 cup high quality kibble (orijen)
2 baby carrots sliced up
sprinkle of apple pieces
sprinkle of carob or peanut butter chips
1 banana
I split this up between my pug and beagle and feed them twice a day. Sometimes I switch it up a little and put yogurt (the puppy chip kind) or other fruits and veggies. Their personal fav. is bananas though.

Veggies are good for any dog if they will eat them. But they also need meat to eat. A pure diet of just vegetables is not a healthy diet for dogs and can cause many health problems.

Adding steamed or boiled veggies to the dog's normal diet is very healthy... but dogs are not vegetarians, so you need to make sure they still have access to ample amounts of protein.
At our shelter we feed the dogs a diet that is a mix of kibble, boiled meat, steamed or raw veggies, eggs and fresh fruit.

As part of a natural diet, no problem. I feed a raw diet, and used to feed 10% cooked veggies as part of that diet. The reason I cooked is that raw veggies of the cruciferous variety affects the thyroid........broccolli, brussels, etc. (And since I could never remember them all, like now, I preferred to cook.) And please don't add the juice from raw veg to your dog's diet. The juice is potent, and is used by herbalists to treat illness.

Most veggies are great for dogs, raw or cooked. Some dogs are allergic to potatoes, and they should not eat onions. But both my boys get all sorts of veggies raw and cooked. No butter though, lol.
