Six years old is very young to just pass away. She could have had so may things you just were not aware of. She could have eaten something that caused her stomach to twist or even a heart problem you did not know about. For that to happen so quickly then I'd think it was heart related.
I'm very sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss... what is the usual food you feed her? I don't know where you are, but there was a massive recall a couple months ago of alot of popular dog & cat foods. check the link below to make sure... however the cases that have been reported usually have kidney failure-like systems... your dog may have had a stroke, or aneurysm, which is a clot to the brain or heart, or any other organ. The cause of such incidents is not always known. Heartworms is a possibility. These worms live in the heart and the pulmonary arteries and can dislodge at any time, traveling to the lungs, brain, or organs and create a massive vascular event, which can be fatal even with treatment. If your dog has not been on prevention consistently, this may be a consideration... dogs can get these things also. I doubt parvo; Parvo virus is characterized by severe, bloody diarrhea and vomiting, high fever and lethargy.... I never heard of cardiomyopathy before; and I'm no Vet. My dog died suddenly too; I found her but she hung herself on her chain; it was nothing health related. Finding your dog dead is one of the worst things; I really feel for you....I would research to find out what may have happened.

I can sympathise with you my dog just died this morning he was only sick for 2 days, i figured he will recover, i had dogs all my life and this has never happened to me by the time i rush him to the emergency room, the next morning he was dead. I dint know if he was affected by the food on recall or he ate something on my back yard. But one sure thing he wont come back . I also have another dog so far he is fine but i took him to the vet he says so far so good but to keep an close eye on him. I hope everything is ok with your other dog.

I cried when I read this, I am so sorry to hear your little lady died!! This is very strange, and how smart of you to take your other dog to get checked. I'm not sure what to say, that is very young for a dog to die of no cause. My dog had cancer and died when she was 12 years old. But she had a mass on her belly. Perhaps worms, or she ate something she shouldn't have, but I would think there would be some sort of sign to this. Well I hope that helps a little, I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm very happy to know your other dog is doing okay!!

A common sudden problem with large breeds could be their stomach twisting. I lost my dog that way last summer. It can be cause by a dog eating and then excercising right after, or eating large meals too fast. The stomach twists, blocking food in it and poisoning the dog. The only way to fix it is immediate surgery. Symptoms are bloating, dry retching, foaming mouth, and lethargy. It kills the dog within a few hours.

It's probably a heart condition. Did she have asthma? She could have been having an asthma attack, or just something heart related. During asthma attacks the lungs begin to swell and become narrow. But whatever the case, I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

I think the other people may be right. But, if not, if she had discomfort in her abdomen, that may be why she dug the hole, go get to the cooler earth beneath. I don't know where you live, so I don't know if it could have been heat exhaustion, too.
I'm sorry for your loss. Dogs are members of the family.

I'm very sorry about your dog, i know that's very difficult. It sounds like she may of had a heart condition, maybe cardiomyopathy. Usually, when a pet has cardiomyopathy they die quickly and unexpectedly. So, if she gave you no warning signs maybe that was why and if so there was nothing you could do. Certain breeds are predisposed to cardiomyopathy and they tend to be the large breeds like boxers.

I'm so sorry, what an awful thing to happen. I'm crying just reading it, so I can only imagine how you feel.
I have no idea why this happened, I could guess but that is all it would be, and that would be no use to you.
I just had to say how sorry I am for your loss, and hope that your other dog remains healthy.
Take care, best wishes and blessings to you and yours

i'm so sorry about your dog. it's puzzling to say the least. it's possible she got hold of something. a plant or maybe another animal like a snake, mouse or rabbit. it's also possible that she had a condition no one knew about.i hope the other one is okay.
