Okay so my dog has been lost since 3/1/07. I had put up signs in and around the neighborhood and posted picture flyers of him. Someone went and took down ALL the signs I posted but none of the other missing dog posters were taken down.

She is a Boston Terrier and she had said that she had bought her from the dogs original owners. Brownie had her tags on her collar so we called the vet clinic, which happens to be the same one we use for our cats, to ask about general health and whether she is up to date on shots and such. The vet told us that she has allergies and needs antihistamines and steroids and a special allergen free food, all of which is fine, we are taking her in on Tuesday to get the meds and food, but I am curious about the meds. I will ask the vet on Tuesday as well, but for any of you who give your dog allergy meds, how often are those administered, daily, weekly? I have never owned a dog with allergies before so i am not to sure how it works. Or is it different for every dog? Thanks for any help or advice you could give us!

My staffy suffers with sore red paws and under his front legs and is also red and sometimes very sore. He had an allergy test and preventative injections, but nothing has worked. The vet wanted to keep giving him steriods but was not happy with this. He dosen't let it bother him unless it is bad - I have tried numerous creams nothing works. Has anyone got this problem and if so any suggestions for helping him.

I had a dog for 4 years and he was as you would call spoiled...hehe...we gave him everything...but we did make sure he was always healthy with general vet visits and shots....he was inside...well close to the end of his life he started drinking excessive amounts of water and peeing a lot....not just a little...a lot...he was house trained...but it got to the point where we had to let him out a lot...every hour of the night...and wen ppl were at school n work hed have to go in the house he had no choice...other than that he as perfectly fine...took him to the vet and thyey did blood and urine tests...they were normal..we went on vacation and borded him at the vet so they could watch him and run tests at the same time....the very next day after we dropped him off the said he was seizing badly...then he died under anestetics that night....but could the food he ate caused kidney failure?? the vet guessed a brain tumor..but i dont believe that..we still dont kno wat happened

I have a 4.5 month old rottweiler, I have been feeding him Puppy Chow Healthy Morsels, according to the bag he should eat 1 cup 3 to 4 times a day. He started out really well on this food and then around 3 months his appetite went way down I was lucky if he ate 1 cup a day. Then I tried mixing an egg with every meal and he did ok but still will only eat about maybe 1 cup a day. I havn'y fed him anything else in case he was doing it just to be picky, he is all updated with his vaccinations, stool sample was clean, yet he still won't eat. Is there anything I can try or another dog food I should try him on (not too expensive)? I thought it might only be a phase but he has been like this for about 1.5 months and he dont seem to be gaining the weight he should be for his breed.

Since this dog food scare, I'm not willing, even after they say it's okay, to put my dog, who is like my child, at risk.

I've been mixing cooked, ground beef with his dry food and wow, he loves it, but I also know that he needs more than just that.

Any suggestions?

I have 2 pups that I'm pretty sure are full - blooded. I got them without papers, but saw their parents, etc. (I wouldn't be disappointed if they weren't anyway cause I love them both & they were well worth the little $ I paid.) Anyway, how do I go about finding out if they are full - blooded, getting papers, etc.? The local vet said to contact the CKC? AKC? Something? Help!? What is the procedure and how much $ does it cost?

Is this the fear period people talk about? He's been a great dog to date, but now he's exhibiting caution in areas where it was never a concern. He's whining more and is overall just acting more like a sucky-baby. Can anyone share experiences of thei dogs going through one of these stages?

For a recent news headline pertaining to this issue:
http://www.ibnlive.com/news/karnataka-govt-to-end-dog-menace/35075-3.html

I have been fortunate enough to have never been attacked or mauled to death by a stray dog, but I'm very sad to have read in the newspaper that others, even as young as a 4-year-old boy and others still younger, have not been so fortunate. As this particular article mentions, killing stray dogs doesn't solve the problem, and sterilizing them can be costly. What about tranquilizing them or giving them sleeping drugs that wear off after awhile until they are transported to confined headquarters where not only will the dogs be under protection, but also the people that live around them?

In any case I think its very very sad that young children have become a key group of victims for these dogs. If a human killed someone, that human would be held responsible and would be punished. I guess our society doesn't hold dogs or other non-humans responsible, though.

I have a 9 year old miniature schnauzer, male. He was the perfect dog until we had our baby 4 years ago. I think jealousy got the best of him. He's still jealous and sometimes quite nervous. The dog and our son get along fairly well and I try to include our dog with everything so he won't feel left out. A friend of mine suggested maybe I should get another dog--a younger, lively one--to bring back Buddy's spirit and loosen him up. I'm just afraid Buddy would feel worse.

Does anyone with similar experience/knowledge have some insightful input on this? I love my dog so much and my son would love having another dog around, but don't know how he (Buddy) would react. Thanks.

I have a brindle pitbull 4mo. he use to eat premium dry food were he would eat the whole bowl but now he leaves food in the bowl and goes back and forward and i don't like that because i want him on a schedule.I was giving him eukanuba wet pouches on top of the dry and he was very interested until the recall he got a hold of some of the bad food then i bought nutro wet food pouch only to find out that menu foods made that too i took him to the vet and had his kidneys tested and he was fine but the test showed that he definatly had the contaminated food,so then i concockted my own recipe i was giving him purina beneful dry puppy chow with skinless chicken breast that i baked in the oven for him then i put it in a food processor to chop it up real fine and put it over the the dry and added 2 tbl spoons of hienz chicken gravy that come in a jar an mix it. He then will eat every bit of food that is in the bowl until it is licked clean. Is gourmet food ok thats what i cosider it to be.
