It sounds goofy, but keep putting them up and tell anyone who will listen what has happened. I have a client who went through this as well. She had an expensive show dog stolen from her yard, and all of her posters were taken down as well. She asked around about it, and ran into someone who had media access. They ran a spot on the evening news, and from that, they had around 30 calls that night which all pointed to the same guy, and they found the dog! The guy was arrested, and the dog was returned. I'm not saying it'll go that far or that you'll be on tv, but if you just ask everyone you see, someone in your town is bound to have seen someone taking down the posters.

Keep putting them up and alert your neighbors of what happened (your signs mysteriously being taken down). It's possible someone stole your dog and doesn't want other people to know. I don't know if you could but it may be worth a try to file a police report. If the dog was just missing I wouldn't suggest this but the fact that someone took your signs down makes me think that someone might have taken him. Also, if you haven't already done so, go to your local animal shelter or pound and put up signs there.

I'd do a couple things...
First I'd contact the local Humane Society, police, and veterinarians and tell them exactly what you posted here. That way they would be looking out for a dog that looks like the one you are missing. (Usually people aren't too good at lying convincingly...so if someone suddenly shows up needing veterinary care for a dog that resembles the one you lost and a suspicious vet asks questions...they will probably screw up along the way).
Then I'd repost your flyers but keep an eye on them to see who is removing them. Sounds to me like someone doesn't want anyone to know about your missing dog...which would make me suspicious that they have it.

I am assuming that someone stole your dog. And that they are the ones that took down the posters. Try putting up some more to see what happens....You might want to see if you can watch to see who is taking them down...Or even ask around...

Sounds kinda fishy. Like maybe that person found your dog and wants to keep it for themselves.
I would keep putting up the posters...maybe use some duct tape so that it's harder to take down your posters.
Maybe you could go door-to-door with posters too....maybe the neighbors have seen your dog over someone's fence.
I wish you the best of luck! Someone stole our dog out of our backyard and I never found out who. It's sad.

If it were me I would suspect someone close to me had something to do with the dog disapearing and they are taking down the flyers to try to get you to stop looking and to ease their troubled minds over what they may have done to your dog. I would by now just expect not to get the dog back...sorry

put posters in front of houses of people you know in the area and ask the owners to keep an eye on them as they may see who is removing them so you can find out why

Have you checked with local shelters? And I agree on putting the signs up again. Good luck
