oh this is to "collie" if you see this. I want to be a police dog handler just a couple of questions: How did you go about it? Is it hard to get into? and did you enjoy it? Many thanks if you reply!

He will be fine in a few days. Just keep an eye on him for infection. Kudo's for a great decision!

Do not worry! Dogs are very resilient and recover much quicker than we do from any operation. Do be aware though, that there can be some reaction and it may appear that the testes are still there (Post Op swelling) Just give the dog gentle exercise for a while and he will let you know when he is ready to play some more. I have two Collies at present but I am a GSD man at heart having been a Police Dog Handler for going on thirty years.

My dog has just been spayed last week,we have to wait 10 days before she has her stiches out.She wasn't allowed to jump up on furniture etc for the 1st 5 days but she seems right as rain now.For dogs it's slightly easier as the surgery is on the outside of the body,he will proberly feel sore when he sits down etc for a few days but should be back to normal in a few days.

A male dog has to be confined for 24 hours due to swelling and the stitches should be completely healed in 10 days. Remember no baths or water fun for that long either!

We have recently had our staff cross english bull castrated and he was fully recovered in about 2 weeks. He was 71/2 months old when he had the operation.

He will be a bit wobbly for the next 24 hours. He will need gentle lead exercise only for about 10 days, this is when the stitches need to be removed. After this, that is it

Just a few days and he will be back to normal. Once the sedative wears off he'll be up and running in a day or so. It is not traumatic to dogs and they recover rather quickly.

I had my 14yr old Cocker Spaniel castrated last year due to him having testical cancer. He was fine after a couple of days then he was like a different dog. Just try to keep him quiet and give him lots of love.
