Somehow our dog managed to get some gloss / oil-based paint on his paw whilst out for a walk. My mother (who was walking him at the time) didn't notice this, but I did about an hour after they got home. There was some fluff mingled in with it where it looks like he'd been scratching at the carpet trying to remove it, and it's likely that he'd been licking it too. I've tried removing it with dog shampoo and water, but it hasn't come off. Will it harm him?

Just looking to change my dog's food to something healthier since his sodium levels are high. Hill's Science Diet and others like it seem to have lots of fillers and bi-products.

Hi, I have a 10 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel female. She is in a crate overnight on her own. (Her Mum sleeps in the lounge near her but not in the crate).
Unfortunately the puppy has decided to start crying and howling at around 5.30 - 6.00am and doesn't stop until someone comes down to her. She is waking up the whole household and needless to say, the kids are getting very irritable due to less sleep.
Can anyone offer any advice please? It would be much appreciated.

How much do vets know about pet foods? Have you ever specifically talked to your vet about how much they have actually studied pets nutrition? Have you questioned your vet about his/her knowledge on pet foods? I know they are well trained on illness and injury but what about nutrition?

I am seeking information as I am putting together a case study and know very little!?

If it became more expensive to improve the quality would you actually buy it and trust it?

Do you still use the products even if you know they are bad for your dog (can you afford to feed them premium products, especially those like mine that eat anything in sight)?

How do measure the quality?

I love my dog and other dogs and want to ensure that they all get the right information and the best product!

My little Staffie, like most Staffies, is quite a bossy little madam, and sometimes she will *mount* our other female dog. I used to assume this was dominance behaviour, but y'know, it looks like she's enjoying it. I won't go into details and you can use your imagination, but from the way she behaves I get the impression that she's having fun. Is this normal? She's 8 now and she's always been like this. Should I stop her doing it??

I have a dog, and regularly visit Cafes, Restuarants, and Hotels that accept dogs, which is great. The problem is that various other places say it breaches Health & Safety laws to allow dogs on premesis that serves food. That is clearly incorrct if some do and some don't.

Surely there should be rule covering responsible dogs. I would say kids are much worse than most dogs.. Maybe we could ban under 16s from shops etc and have a place to tie them up outside!!

We got him yesterday evening and he has not eaten his dinner at all- the same brand that we were told he was used to. He seems to have an upset tummy- diarrhea, and after drinking water he sicked it back up. He's a 3 yr old westie, so he's not a big dog. I think he's actually been fed human food- he begs when I'm cooking or eating, and we don't want him eating that way, our cat isn't allowed. How long before we should be worried. I'm thinking it's prob the stress of moving and a possible change in diet. We will take him to the vet this week anyway, should we be any more urgent about getting an appointment- he's happy in himself and walked happily for nearly an hour with me this am!
