Whole Cows Milk tends to give my dogs diarrhea but if your dog likes it and you can afford it why not ?I just wouldn't over do because of Calcium Levels increasing.Increased Calcium can cause kidney problems.Try some of the dog foods that say they have milk in them when mixed with water.I am sure that it is some sort of powdered milk in it.There are some Purino Products that have milk products in them also maybe milkbone might help with his craving of milk.Good luck!!!

You don't say how much milk you give him. A very small amount won't hurt but too much does cause diarrhea as already said. A little bit is a treat. Yogurt is good, ice cream, ice cubes even. What ever it is just make sure that it is in small amounts and not too often. Dogs don't really need the milk. For that matter neither do weaned cats.

If your talking about cow's milk then NO it's not good for them. Dogs have a really hard time digesting cows milk and can cause loose stools and even diarrhea.
You don't say how old your dog is but dogs once weened off mother milk don't need any extra calcium unless your vet has told you that your dog does and even then they have dog supplement for that.
The only thing your dog should be getting is clean water.

It will not hurt your dog in small doses, if the dog is constipated. Then only in about 4 to 6 oz. If you want to give your ridgeback a treat they make ice cream for dogs. My three love it. It's called frosty paws.

My dog had a bowl of Fruity Cheerios with milk this morning (those things are horrible - go with Honey Nut, if you're ever faced with the choice)...

..About mid-day, she threw up on my new rug (true story, I swear - weird timing that you should ask this today)... :(

To each their own, but I'm not giving my mutt any more milk.

Milk is not horrible for dogs, especially if it is as large as yours, but it's not the best, especially in large quantites . Most dairy products are actually very good for dogs. I work at a dog kennel and all my co-workers feed their dogs cheese, cream cheese, cottage cheese, and what seems to be all their personal favorites, is eggs. Dairy products are especially good for their coat. One day one of the girls heated up dog food with raw egg hoping her dog will eat a warm meal and the eggs turned to scrambled eggs! He loved it and so does my dog :) you should try it!
