I have a 4 month old maltese, and I want it to "potty" at a designated spot inside my house. Some people tell me to yell (and generally be mean), some people tell me to use positive reinforcement. What method is the fastest?

i have a 5 year old papillon mix. he's the most adorable, playful energetic dog, but he hates other people and other dogs. he only likes my family and our other dog... and if we have company or when we take him for walks, he goes crazy on strangers and other dogs. according to some he is, by law, a "dangerous" dog and I don't think anyone can or will adopt him. There is no way I can keep him, as much as I want to... I am still researching on options but I'm stuck. Any suggestions?

We had spit out our gum in a cup, and we picked up the dog and she ate one of the pieces out of the cup (we were in the car). We know for sure she ate it.

She is a 7 month old, 9 pound dog and she ate a chewed up piece of Orbit gum containing Xlitol.

I assume that since it is aritficial sweetener it was all consumed by me since the gum had lost its flavor. ???

We called the emergency vet and they said to find out if it was a lethal amount and if it was it would be like 1000 dollars to have her stomach pumped.

Please only answer if you have had expirience with this or know someone who has.

Is this a lethal amount for a dog weighing 9 pounds??

Thanks

It was such a beautiful dog. Kind of looked like a Chow-Rottweiler mix.

If does happen to become pregnant how long will it take for her to have the pups? She is around 2 or 3 yr old. I have to find out what kind of dog my neighbors is also. Is there anything I can do to help her in this situation? She is soo cute and like one of the family.

The new chihuahua puppy I purchased yesterday mauled my face yesterday. Look at my avatar to get a picture of the amount of plastic surgery I'll have to undergo. Should I put him down or is there still a chance to train him?

I have a 4 mo old doberman and she was fine early today(running, jumping, playin etc.) but for about 6 hours all she wants to do is lay in her cage. She isnt really sleepin, just layin there. She will come out every little bit and lay her head on my lap and then go back to her cage. She acts like she is weak. She hasnt ate, but she is drinking water? What could be wrong??? She has never acted like this before.

Thanks

My son's puppy got hit by a car and died. My son is three years old. I told him the truth. A lot of people (his dad--my ex--included) thought I should have lied and told him that the dog ran away. What do you think?

Don't get me wrong, Shadow, my Golden Retreiver, Eats a healthy mix of Gravy Train mixed with half a can of canned food twice a day, but he's gotten to liking Cake, Doughnuts, Pies,
Two days ago, my mom gave him half a cake while I was at work, when I found out , I was worried, can this be unhelthy for him? Or, is it just a sweet tooth?

My dog (nuetered male black lab) since I got him at 3 months has always been a little distant. He doesnt like to cuddle or even appreciate being pet on my terms. The only time I get good happy love out of him is when I come home after work, or he wants something, or knows he's getting something, or just wants a scratch on his terms...I dont understand. We do a lot of obedience together, he's not so hot on his off leash recalls quite yet, like he'd rather find something to do.
There's only been one night that we havent been together in 10 months, you'd think he'd be a bit more affectionate to me than this. It doesnt bother me all that much most of the time, I just get sad sometimes when he gives me the cold shoulder when I could use some k9 therapy. Any thoughts or remedies??
PS...I have never abused him, I work with dogs for a living, I could never hurt him. Like I said this has been going on since I got him...he used to scream when I cradled him like he was angry.

If so what was your decision?
My dog bit my sister she was attending to an injured dog and my dog was trying to help the injured dog and he grabbed my sister by the leg and pulled her out of the room, she was hurt really bad. My sister and I both love this dog very much, but his actyions cannot be tolerated. I know he was protecting the other dog, but that is not an excuse. I just can't bring myself to destroying this guy. I get a 50/50 response from training professionals, what is your honest opinion?
