I have a 4 mo old doberman and she was fine early today(running, jumping, playin etc.) but for about 6 hours all she wants to do is lay in her cage. She isnt really sleepin, just layin there. She will come out every little bit and lay her head on my lap and then go back to her cage. She acts like she is weak. She hasnt ate, but she is drinking water? What could be wrong??? She has never acted like this before.

Thanks

we have had her since she was 7 weeks old, so i dont think its because she misses mommy. But I just went in the kitchen to check on her, and she was snuggled down in her bed and her blanket and i had to tap her on the head to get her to open her eyes. should i let her sleep in our bed tonight, just incase???

I would keep an eye on her, but I think she may just be tired. My puppies get bursts of intense energy and then sleep or lay around the house for hours. Then, about the time I am ready for bed, they wake up again and bounce around the house. Just make sure she is drinking water and eating, and watch if this becomes a pattern with her. And pet her and cuddle her, that is probably what she wants when she puts her head in your lap. Puppies are used to cuddling with their kennel mates and she may be feeling lonely.

About the vaccinations, I have a dog with a weakened immune system so I always have to worry about adverse reactions to immunizations. My vet said to watch for facial swelling and trouble breathing. Otherwise, dogs are really tired the day they get their vaccinations.

The pup may be sick or could have possiably got in to something he should not have. He is at the age were chewing or theething is going to be setting in heavy. If he got a hold of some thing and ate it a Sock, stuffed toy, some carpet Anything it may be stuck in his stomic or blocking his intestine. That can get bad. If you think something is wrong the best bet is to get him to the vet.

Keep an eye on her, but she could really be just a sad tired puppy, she's still just a baby, so she could be missing mommy. If it's not better within a day, you should consider taking her to a vet, I hope she feels better soon, good luck :-)

You definately want to bring her to the vet. It could be a number of things, but one thing you do not want it to be is Parvo. Bring her to get a check up asap!

Did she recently get her vaccinations? Some dogs can have really serious reactions to their vaccinations, called vaccinosis. Call your vet right away and see the link below.
