I have a 4 month old rottweiler puppy. He was with 2 siblings, his mother & father for the entire 4 months. The owner a good freind of mine said because of he and his families schedule they were fed but not really touched by people. When I feed him in the morning his first reaction if the windows are up he tries to get out the windowand bites the shades{the owner of the puppy lives in Long Island with a big yard}Do you think the smell of outdoors is making him act like that because he thinks he is close to his parents & siblings?I can't take him outside because he doesn't have his first vet appointment until saturday.Do you think if and when he get's over that he will be trainable? I have a 12& 6 year old and I don't want any problems later.Because he is afraid of all of us and it has only been a week we want to give him a chance he is beautiful.

I find them in my dogs ears, in between their toes, on their bellies. I used different soaps and shampoos. The ticks just won't go away! What should I do?

We feed him twice a day, morning and at 6pm. He gets lots of outdoor exercise and a final run before we go to bed. Unfortunately, he seldom makes it through the night without waking us up because he needs to go and relieve himself, sometimes more than once!!! Any suggestions? He's a great dog and we don't mind taking him out when he is desperate, but we could really do with a good night's sleep. HELP!!!

I have a male shih tzu and keep his coat medium length. I spend alot of time grooming him, so hes always had a nice smooth coat. However, I have just come back from a 3 week holiday, my parents looked after my dog, and they obviously havn't been grooming him.

I don't want to get him shaved, is there any miracle lotion or brush to get rid of matts? its not severe matting but theres quite alot of it.

Thanks!

Our Border Collie pup is growing a really long, heavy coat. He looks great but I want to groom it properly. Should I brush against it and then go the other way? What sort of brushes shoul I use?

Okay, i was sleeping and i wake up to the wieght of a 100 pound doberman with feet like hammers (hence his name, 'hammer') slamming on my face, to jump off the bed, and he ran to my T.V in my room and my t.v is nxt to my closet to i couldnt see the front of it, and i saw what looked like a rat, or blob, and my dobe was barking at it so loud, he started to foam at the mouth, and all the hair on his back was up, And then all of a sudden it moved a little, so he bit it, but then i guess it moved some more and it freaked him out, and he ran to me and started to bark even louder and more agressive, well my mom came into my room and turned my light on, bc i was not moving. and she looked at the T.v and nothin was there. Wel i was offically fraked out an i wasent going to sleep. so after a while i leftmy room and when i came back, i shut my closet door to watch t.v, well stuck between it in the middle, i saw the big *** tail sticking through it caught. I screamed bloody murder. ran to my moms room, and shes deathly afraid of snakes, so she called a friend of hers and on his way here, he told me to go look and see if it still was there, and i did (with my Doberman an a butchers knife) and the mother ****** was having a dandy ******* party on my Dresser, knocking all 60 of my expensive perfumes I bought from PARIS all over the place, i was like screw that, and i poked the little nasty reptillian away from my dresser, and he/she hid behind my full lenth mirror, and when our friend arrived he caught him,
but we have no idea what to do with him, and why is he HERE!
Can someone tell me what to do, i have him in a pillow case, outside, far, far,far away from my house near my fron gate. what Should i do?

Where i live is a trashy Neighborhood (we would leave, but we were hear years before them with ACRAGE!)
And no one has fences except me! and when ever i walk my dobe, a mean dog will come up to us and my dog tears a chuck out of him and the owners and me get into a fight bc their stupid unrestrained white trash dog comes up to ME ( i always win), and tries to attack me, and then my RESTARINED dobe with a choke chian, and LEASH, attacks it to protect me, and the dog gets tore up really bad, but its not like i go around to make my dog attack all these dogs bc im not. And im not going to stop walking my dog bc they cant control their dog, but what i wanted to know what what could i do to keep them away from us.
any ideas? becuase he is a sweet dobe, and hes only protecting me. when other nonviolent dogs come up to us like little ones, he plays with them, but since the ones close by to me are abused neglected, unsocialized& mean, and my Dog can tell when theres danger and reacts.

and i was wondering, which one should i get her: a Great Dane, or an Alaskan Malamute?

Here are some facts:

She's short (like 4"9 or so), and i want something that looks big and bad, but is gentle enough for her to handle

She lives in New Jersey, and not the best area

Nj has cold winters, how would that be for the Great Dane?

Nj also has very hot summers, can the Malamute handle that?

My grandma lives by her self

I just don't want anything to happen to her, because me and my family live in NC

I only want your votes on one or the other, please no crap about Labs or Golden Retrievers. Also i would like to hear from people that have had either for a pet, because i have only worked with both breeds, that is how i know that they would be good and kind to her.

Thanks a Load!!

I USUALLY HAVE NO PROBLEMS WHEN LETTING HIM OUT OUT OUR GATE. HE WOULD BE OFF LEASH, WAIT TILL I LOCK DOOR, AND WALK ALONG WITH ME. HOWEVER, LATELY HE HAS BEEN STARTING TO BE BAD BY NOT LISTENING TO MY COMMANDS, AND JUST START TO WALK OFF HIMSELF TOWARDS THE PARK TO POTTY, CROSSING STREETS HIMSELF. NOW I ALMOST HAVE TO USE LEASH ALL THE TIME (AND PLZ DON'T GIVE ME THE LEASH LAW... I KNOW ABOUT IT ALREADY, DON'T COMMENT ON THAT PLZ). COULD IT BE BECAUSE I SHOULD BE LETTING HIM DO HIS POTTY SOONER, SO HE DOESN'T FEEL LIKE HE IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE. HE TENDS NOW TO LISTEN AT ALL IF HE REALLY NEEDS TO GO. BEFORE HE WOULD SIT ON COMMAND WHEN HE REACHED THE CORNER. HOW DO U PUNISH THEM WITHOUT PHYSICAL ABUSE? HE IS A ROTTIE, ALMOST 1YR.
