We are developing a program to help shelters deal with the challenges of rehabilitating and rehoming Pitbulls. What extra measures do you think that shelters should take when adopting out Pitbulls as opposed to other breeds?

We have created a survey that only takes a couple minutes to complete. The opinions and suggestions we gather are vital part of developing and marketing our program. Please help us by visiting http://www.hellobully.com/web/questions

Thanks so much!

We are considering invisible fencing for our new dog this summer. Is there a minimum age requirement for the dog? Do these types of fences actually work?

I have a 7 month old male Chihuahua, named Elvis, and he has a certain toy that he absolutely loves. He "makes love" to this toy many times a day. He does it so much at one time that he completely passes out. When he passes out he doesn't come to for about 5-10 seconds. I am worried, I don't want him to pass out one day and not wake-up. What can I do?

How well do miniature pinscher and Italian Greyhounds get along? Should I get one before the other? Does gender of either breed matter? I know that IG's get along well with other dogs and that min pins can be a little more aggressive (but not ridculously so). Just looking for opinions and/or experiences

hi,
i love how these dogs look, and am considering getting one. however, i have kids plus i work in an overnight camp and would love to be able to take a dog around with me (kids grade2-9) as i stroll around to see how groups are doing, and i'm concerned with what i've read- i know that all dogs are individuals and breed characteristics are only guidelines, but there are some pretty scary things that i've read about their biting and snapping for minor infractions by humans and especially children or just biting and snapping because they want to.

lhasa owners- tell me what you think... tell me about these dogs.
thanks,
ira

I have an 8-9 year old female Golden Retriever (Molly) that appears to really miss her younger companion that passed away five weeks ago (Katie). Both females were spayed and Katie was about two years old and a Golden mix, and both dogs I acquired from animal shelters. I was wondering if I got another dog as a replacement, would it be at all possible if Molly would think that Katie had returned, if I named her Katie and is a similar dog? I'm thinking she won't because of scent or other animal instincts but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Also, ignoring the previous question, would it make too much difference in the sex of the new dog as far as 'getting along' with each other? I've heard that males want to be dominant, and if I get a male it will be much younger than Molly which could present a problem. Stick with a female? Thank you!

We've been taking our 5 month old Boxer Cross to the dog park for a few weeks now. Almost every dog there plays very well with him, or just ignores him as older dogs will do.

However, there is this one 2 year old Husky that will single him out, run him down, grab his throat, slam him to the ground and hold him there until someone pulls him off. There could be 20 other dogs at the park, but as soon as our dog makes his entrance we'll see this Husky come running from the other side of the park to take him down.

We understand the dominance factor and that the Husky may be trying to set the tone and let my dog know who's boss. But other pups and dogs who show up never get the same kind of "welcome" from the Husky as ours does.

What behavior could my dog be exerting to warrant this action from the Husky? Our dog is NOT aggressive, but is fearless and will welcome play from any dog of any size. So when he sees the Husky coming he play poses, but the Husky just takes him down.

I got a Schipperke puppy about 4 weeks ago from a rescue group. The second week I had him, I took him to the vet for a puppy check up and his second set of shots. The vet found blood in his stool and treated him for Cocisity. His stool got worse, bloodier and had mucus in it. I took him back and they found Giardia. We have been treating that for a week and his stool got better for a few days and now is loose and bloody again. I'm taking in another stool sample today but I feel as though the vet really isn't addressing the issue. Any ideas?

Would like to know if some people agree with me that people who put dogs for sale on websites are ridiculous. Looking on sites like epupz you can find staffordshire bull terriers for 1000 pounds which is someones idea of a prank perhaps. You can find Even crossbreeds going for a few hundred, Its not suprising that the people who put these kind of prices on pups are still usually trying to sell them 6 months later but you can bet someone has atleast shelled out for a few of the litter at this stupid price. I am not sure who to feel sorry for as anyone who would pay that kind of money almost deserves to be conned. Let me know your thoughts?

I am doing research and am trying to locate the top problems that owners have with their dogs. I would imagine that housebreaking, etc would be on the list...but I am looking for a survey that details what dog owners state as their most common problems.

Dog Friendly University ? I want to find a dog friendly university in the uk do you know of one ?
I am a mature student I successfully completed the first year of my undergraduate course last year.

But unfortunately have been unable to continue with it and progress into the second year do to severe problems in finding accommodation.

The problems I have experienced in finding accommodation are due to the fact that I am the owner of a small reasonably well behaved dog that I will not give up.

Unfortunately my university's rules do not permit dogs in accommodation other than guide dogs and all the private landlords I have contacted (a large number) seem to have similar rules.

I am very keen to continue with my undergraduate study as soon as I can and need to find a new university where dogs are welcome

Do you know of a university with a more positive, understanding and enlightened attitude to dogs that would let me keep my dog and study ?

Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it and keep their dog and study if so please tell me how ?

Has anyone ever had their dog learn yoga or tried to teach their dog yoga as a form of exercise when the dog can't go out for a walk?

He goes for walks twice a day and has loads of toys but when myself and my parnter are sat in our lounge watching TV we can't seem to calm him down. He has all his toys out and we play with him but once we stop he starts to play up and chew the cushions on the sofa and also the stereo speakers to get attention!!

Any tips on how we can get him to stop would be much appreciated :-)
