i am fostering 4 female mice for the week friday to the next monday and seems that one of the mice was pregnant and gave birth late last night to a litter of approx. 14 babies. does any one know when the babies gain their sight, when we can move them and any other helpful tips you can give?
thanks

Leave the mice with the mama and the rest of the mice. 9 times out of 10 they are fine. Mice are communal livers. All of the females will take care of this litter. it is just amazing. You don't have to do a thing except feed and water the adults. It's really cool to watch the babies grow. They just aren't fully developed when they are born. They ear placement spot is there, but not open. Same with the eyes. They grow leaps and bounds. Sight will come 9-12 days after birth. Don't worry about this situation. Let nature be and enjoy the experience.

If all four mice are in the same cage, you may want to move them with their mother as soon as possible. Sometimes there isn't a problem with multiple mice with babies, but sometimes there is. I'm not positive when the babies will gain their sight, but they shouldn't be taken from their mother for a few weeks, so you won't have to worry about that. Good luck.

I hope the mice are separate, if not I'd remove the extra adults ASAP and leave the one with babies alone as much as possible. Mice WILL kill and eat their babies if they are upset.
