Hello, my parents recently took their female lab, Roxy in to have an urgent Hysterectomy. She apparently had a very dangerous infection, Pyometra. Her uterus was filled up with pus. Roxy is about 7 to 9 years old, she had never been spayed and had babies once 3 years ago. Well my mother just called to tell me that she had been worried because Roxy has been so tired and lethargic lately, usually she is hyper and curious. She called the vet and told him that she had been giving Roxy 500 mg. of Hydrocodone, a generic brand of Vicadin, twice a day!!! I had no idea. She was just trying to help Roxy, she thought it was ok. The vet told her that she has basically been poisoning Roxy!
Does anyone know if Roxy could be in serious danger after just 4 or 5 days of this??

His chewing has increased recently- has ruined 3 pairs of shoes, remote control, cell phone, numerous barbie dolls (his favorite), ate a candle, even demolishes his own toys and often eats the pieces. I try to keep things put up- but he even will climb on the furniture to get to things that are out of reach. I don't know what else to do. Please help- replacing my child's dolls is becoming expensive and I worry if he continues to eat the materials he could be harmed.

I've got 2 blue heeler pups...9 weeks old and 11 weeks old. They both know how to sit and "give five" (aka "shake"). They both learned it quickly. What are some other tricks and how are they taught?

I want another Shiba. I bought my Shiba Inu from a "reputable" breeder, whose dogs are
shown in a lot of dog shows- saw on the internet. I got a puppy who was so nervous and not socialized. He's better now, but still so fearful.

My dog barfs after taking his monthly dose of heartworm medicine. It's like clockwork! My dog is mostly an indoor dog, does not go to kennels, and only is outside when we walk him or if he goes in the backyard for short periods of time.

My miniature schnauzer sits in front of me and stares & barks, sometimes he will scratch at my arm too. My other one used to stand by the kitchen door...and sometimes paw at it.

One of the veterinarians that I worked for believed that dogs
(and cats alike) have no time perception...
I believe they DO.
Why else would my dogs (that I'm here all day with)
Start looking out the window and getting excited several minutes before the rest of the family gets home? :)
At the SAME time each day.
They KNOW its close to time for them to get here...

I have a Shiba, and they are very good at house training, almost from day 1. Although in the past week my dog has had more accidents than she's had in the past 3 months. Seeing that her diet, feeding times, walking schedule haven't changed, and just having been spayed about 2 weeks. I figured it could've been a bladder/urinary tract infection. As she has had a few accidents where she had a "leak" in a spot where she was just sitting. We took her to the vet, I was told she was physically in great shape, and the urine analysis showed no signs of infection (crystals)except for a small count of red blood cells. I was told I could try antiobiodics, but it might not help, and that the issue could be a behavior issue. Because she has had two accidents in her crate when no one was home, that her bladder issues may not be due to excitement or wanting attention. I might go for the antiobiodics, but just seeing if anyone had any similar type situations/remedies?
