Don't get a dog. You aren't home. It will be left alone too much. I see a vicious cycle happening. A dog is cool, so let's get one, then three months down the road the dog is too destructive, people don't have time to spend with it, so now a dog needs a home and has problems or you decide that tying him out in the back yard is the solution. GREAT! Now you have a dog. Unfortunately the dog suffers cause you are too stupid to realize that there is no dog breed out there that will thrive by being left alone and easy to train. Get some information. Training takes time and committment and it sounds like you want a conversation bite at the office.

Dogs are pack animals and by nature aren't comfortable staying home alone. Maybe you could get two dogs? A young dog left alone gets anxious and will damage and tear things up, dig holes, etc. Dogs who are left alone daily do not respond well to potty training. Try not to leave it alone often until about age three. But, if you you have no choice, get an older, already potty trained dog. Give it plenty of attention, affection and exercise when you're with it, that should help. Border collies are the most intelligent breed in the world, though they are high strung and do require a lot of attention.

My advice to you is not get a dog. You being out most of the time is not doing the dog any good. I am not sure why you would want a dog one knowing you are out most of the time. How sad is that knowing you are getting a dog to have it stay by itself.

I hope you rethink what you are going to do. A dog gets lonely just like you would if you were by your self all the time. I just don't understand why you would put a dog through this. They get bored and find things to keep them busy, maybe tear up something. Then you come home and scold him even though it wasn't his fault but yours. NO dog is easy to train if you not willing to spend time with it. Well I hope you rethink this and not get a dog.

If someone can't be around to be with the dog, I'd suggest you pass on a pet. You don't have to be there all the time, but you make it sound like you'll be gone for a couple of days at a time. If you mean that you'll only be gone during the day, and the dog wil just be outside on a leash, I'd still say pass. Dogs need company, and an opportunity to be able to get outside now and then during the day.

Lab or a Golden retriever! And remember its not the breed that makes the dog easy to train..

And most dogs wouldnt do too well if youre out most of the time...Have you ever thought about getting a cat or a hamster instead? (unless some one else lives w/you and can give the dog attention)

Boston Terriers are great dogs. Some can be a little hyper at a young age but there still great to have around. Australian shepards are also good. They have a sweet disposition and are always happy to see thier owners and they love to please you. They also smart dogs and are typically trained with ease. Golden Retrievers can be good. They shed alot and if you get a dark golden versus a lighter golden you will have a more hyper active dog. Most are easily trained but I've come across some Dark Goldens that were impossible. Goldens also have very bad hip problems as the reach old age. German Short Haired Pointers! They are great dogs. Smart dogs. They are easy to train and very quick to catch on. I've never come across a difficult one. Pretty good at entertaining themselves but they like to spend time with their owners as well. They also like to run around. Rottweilers are good dogs to. They often have a sweet and loving disposition despite the idea that they are nothing but viciouse guard dogs. I dont know about training with them. German Shepards are another good breed. They have a shyier nature and catch on to things quickly. They can be trained with ease, but in old age they also have bad hip problems. Boxers are also good dogs. The thing with boxers is you can either get a really smart one... or a really dumb one. They are always loving and ready to play. Boxers are cursed with cancer though. Sometimes they can be a money pit. Most people like Labs. They are not my favorite, but you can't deny that they are very loyal. They MUST be trained, otherwise they just get out of control. Chocolate Labs seem to be the better out of the breed. They tend to be calmer and catch on quicker that yellows or blacks (thats just my experirence) I've heard good things about Weimaraners as well.

Also have you considered going down to the shelter to adopt a dog? Many great animals come out of the shelter. I adopted a pit bull who was abused and left out on the street. He was not the most pleasant dog at first. He would growl and was very very skittish, but after showing him that he was in a loving home where nobody would hurt him he became the best dog i've ever had. I also adopted Roxy from the shelter. She was a retriever australian shepard mix. She was a loving sweat heart right off the bat, and you couldnt hope for a dog that would catch on quicker than she did.

Well not to be mean, but i dont think you should have a pet. You said you were out most of the time and that isn't good for any animal. It needs love, walks, food and a lot of other things. But if you could adjust your schedule to be at home more often i would say to get a black lab.

If you're out all the time and you want something that you can leave home alone, then get a cat. A dog is the wrong animal for you.

I don't know of any breed that likes to be home alone...you would be better off getting a cat (I personally hate them) But if you do get a dog...rescue one please!!! Go to a shelter or the pound. Often times they are the best dogs!!

A British Bull Dog would be nice and easy to train.
