Well, he's been taking Spanish classes lately so I think he's trying to practice....it sounds like" Por Favor...banyo rapido...la puerta,la puerta.."
I don't speak a word of Spanish, but he says all this while going to the door, coming to me, the door, me,etc. He's a great dog.
Before he started the Spanish classes , he used to turn on the stereo, put in a "Louie, Louie" cd, fast forward to the part that's "we gotta go,ya ya ya ya" and turn it all the way up. That got old at 2 in the morning...

Tie a bell of some sort around the door. Everytime you take the dog outside, first stop at the door, pick up her paw, and jingle the bell for her. Then open the door.
Before long, a dog will realize that all they have to do is ring the bell and magically the owner will come running and let them out. I have trained all of my dogs with this trick, it is pretty simple.
Sometimes they will ring it when they just want to go outside and play and don't necessarily have to go potty.
Some normal signs of a dog needing to go potty are:
Turning in circles.
Coming up to you and jumping on you.
Going to the door.
Barking at the door.
Even ringing the bell thats tied to the door.
Good luck to you!
I hope this helps. I have been training dogs for many years and I have now built a site that reflects some basic dog obedience training. See my source listed below if your interested.
Cheers,
Sam

Thank goodness i don't have to worry about that anymore. We built a small dog yard around the back of the house and then installed a doggie door..YEAH! They just go when they want to. However, that doesn't stop Tater from coming and sitting by me and stares a hole thru me..and then gives the shrillest bark that will make you jump out of your chair. That means..dog yard is ok but I WANT WALK! HE HE

My dog, Ginger, scratches at my arm and bugs me. She won't stop annoying me until i finally let her out. Sometimes when I'm out in the kitchen she sits by the door and stares at me.

She will usually come around in front of me and stare at me with this questioning look. Other times she'll keep sticking her nose in my hands and arms, and then back up and wait.
She also goes to the door and stares at me or scratches.
She's very smart, so no matter what, she always lets me know, even if she has to wake me up to do it.

Whiskey will stand by the front door and bark, if he really has to pee he will jump and scratch at the door to let us know how urgent this is!

My 3 year old Shih Tzu will come to where I am and after he gets my undivided attention, will show me his rear, then walk off a few steps - this is his way of saying "follow me". When I get up, he'll lead me to the back door and go out!
Smart dog!

barking, pacing, going to the door, pawing at you to try and get your attention, whining, looking at you, there are many more signs it just depends on wht your dag does at Petco they have a doorbell chime that is shaped like a paw print it costs about $21.00 and they step on it when they want to go outside it sounds like a doorbell, start off by stepping on it everytime you go outside eventually he will get the picture and do it himself. Just look for the signs.
Good Luck
