i hav a chihahua who is a little over a year old & yesterday all of a sudden he wuz wabbling around, even when laying down, & seemed 2 be losing his balance when he wud hike his leg or scratch his head with his foot. also his breathing kept getting slower & he wasnt as alert as usual. wut was wrong with him? also one day about 6 months ago he was laying under the table, which he never does, & he was panting bad, but wouldnt drink water. wut was wrong?

i have a terrier mix and he's 2 years old and his nose usto be black but now its getting browner every day now, and his nose seems dry!!!!! i asked this question before but i didnt tell his age some people said its because hes getting older but hes only 2 years old hes not that old!

I have a black lab who is almost 12 years old, she is a very happy dog but not very heavy, she stays with my father and my step siblings who feed her alot so she is definatly over weight, my problem (besides her weight) is she has a big huge buldge coming out of her gum in front of her bottum teeth, it looks like her gum is just swelling up to the size of a large marble. what could this be? is it serious?

although the humane society says she is a rottie mix, we are thinking she is a Bernese mountain dog mix.

I have a few questions.......personal experiences as well as breed generalizations are welcome........

Is there anyway a Bernese Mountain dog can have a short coat or no blaze?

Do Bernese Mountain dogs drool? One source said they drool a lot and another said that they are "dry-mouthed"? Also, at what age does a dog start to drool?

What is the average life span of a Bernese Mountain dog…or how long did yours live.....? they said "short", but how long is "short"?

Finally are their any major health concerns? I read about cancer and an elbow dysfunction........how common are these?

He is a 5 year old Labrador/Pitbull mix. For the past couple years we have been having problems with him peeing inside the house, so we have a "mudroom" area that he has to stay in when no one is home. When we are home, we let him out sometimes, but he must stay in the room with us, or else he has to go back to his room. We have been following this routine for atleast a year now. All the sudden, He has been growling and crying like he always wants to come out of his room. When we let him outside he doesn't want to come in, and doesn't come in when we call him anymore, which he always used too. And when we open his little gate to let him into the rest of the house, he runs around, lays down, rolls over, runs to the next room, does the same thing, its wierd, what do you think is wrong? He is worrying me..

I adore my little girl. She's fun, funny, so sweet, and her personality is just so precious.

I have had her since birth, as her mother; (an adopted dog from Humane Society....was pregnant when I adopted her...unbeknownst to anyone...sigh) anyhow; the puppy has one thing that perplexes me and I don't know how to 'overcome' it.

When I bend over, or down, either from standing position or sitting position to pet her, and/or to pick her up she backs away. If you keep your hand out she'll start nibbling and thinking it's play time.

But it's the backing away that irritates me. I have never laid a hand on her, yelled at her, nothing.

What is possibly causing her reaction to back away? What can I do to stop this?
