You should immmediatley start kennel training her tonight. It will cut your potty training time in half. It will also help to define you as her pack leader and give her her own safe place to sleep.

Such a great question.

If you plan to let her sleep with you forever, than go for it. It's a smaller dog! No problem!

But take my yorkie for example. Oh, so cute! He slept with me, right in the middle of dh and I. Now that he has been here a few months, no way he's sleeping on the floor. That gets pretty old pretty fast.

I suggest kennel training, be SURE to look it up and get all the most suggested tips. Then I would put the dog in her kennel. Take her out every two to three hours. DO NOT let the dog whine, wherever you put her, and make you run. If you say, put her in the bathroom, and run when she whines, guess what you will hear all night? Every night!??

Trust me, she WILL whine tonight. Let her whine. It's a pack/puppy thing. I suggest a loud fan near you, to drown it out, or put on a sound machine? Even white noise on the tv :) But dont talk to her or run every time she whines. TRUST ME.

Try leaving her on her own and see how she reacts, she will proberly whine and cry a bit at first, and as hard as it is,you have to ignore it,usually a pup will settle if you just ignore it.If she does carry on through out the night and is causing disturbance, then i would suggest you take her basket or crate up stairs in your room, remember though that if you dont have a crate your going to wake up to accidents on the floor.Just a quick note on puppy advice for you, your pup will need to be taken out every hour during house training,no matter what the weather, dont use paper or puppy pads in the house as it slows the process down. Also socilise your pup throughly, far to many people dont, and its the most important aspect of raising a dog to its welfare and personality.Good luck and enjoy your pup, they grow up very quickly.

Hi
NO don't take her to bed with you start as you mean to go on!
If you have a crate put a blanket or a bed in it and she will feel very safe!
It can cause problems in the future if you have her in bed with you, as tempting as it is.
She may cry a little but it will have been a very tiring day so she will probably sleep well.
Hope it goes ok what ever you decide.

best to start as you mean to go on, but remeber that she will need more attention at first.
I you want to keep her somewhere else in the house then best to start asap, just make sure you get up a few times in the night and go see her fro the first couple of weeks. But you will have to make sure that you only go she her when she is quiet, as if you go to her when she is whinning or barking it will be like rewarding the bad behaviour which will then become a problem later in life.
Enjoy your new pup.

Shihtzu dogs are small furry balls. Yes, let her sleep with you and if she wears a little bell of some kind, you will know if she needs to go potty because she will be moving around. Hope you are a light sleeper.

Yes take her to your bedroom and put her bed next to you, she will feel secure and won't cry. If she's left alone she will, probably wine all night. Make sure you put newspaper or puppy training pads down, expect a few accedents at first burt she will soon settle into a routine. My dogs have always slept in my bedroom and they settled in no time.

If you do then that's what she will expect all the time , if she won't settle try this get an alarm clock the old wind up type wrap it in a towel and put it in with her the ticking reminds them of the mothers heartbeat and usually helps them to settle.

Well, I'm a softy so I would put her in her own bed right beside mine so I could reach down and stroke her! If she started whimpering a lot, then I would bring her up and hug her...after all she's scared and everything is new...we'd get the routine sorted out once she's more settled!

no!unless you intend on always having her there then don't,it'll only upset her the next night.leave her with a piece of clothing or blanket that you had when you collected her as this will have a scent of her old home, and your smell which will soothe her in the future-vet visits ect.also, roll a pair of socks or two in her bed, this comforts them into thinking their litter mates are with them.it's so hard if they cry, especially if she was one of te first to leave the litter, but it works out ok,it was awful the first nigt my cocker came home but the next it was ok and the next he was perfect and now loves his own space in the house.good luck with your lovely new puppy.

Wherever you want her to sleep is where you should start letting her sleep, Best tip i ever had was to give her a teddy the same sort of size, she will chew it eventually but it'll give her something to cuddle up to like her sibling was doing earlier today,

My pup loved his "Brother" for quite some time when he was new and lonely
