My family finally decided to get a puppy. We're looking for a black and tan doberman pinscher. We're willing to travel in Virginia, or anywhere within or around Chicago, Illinois.

I just got one from Margo Richards of Guardian Angel Dobermans. She is so cute, sweet and smart! You can see Margo's pups at http://nextdaypets.com/directory/dogs/sale/1100095/ Her puppies are the ones with the title AKC champion blood lines it has a red backround with bones on them. I had a good experience with her. She's out of MO. but can ship her puppies for $250, which is what I did and it worked out fine. You can see the puppies parents at their website http://www.freewebs.com/guardianangeldobermans/
If you ever have any questions about it, email me.

Here's a site with breeders' listings. I found my Bernese Mountain Dog on pupmatch.com. Just checked it and noticed they have Doberman Pinschers, too.

Just make sure the sire and dam (and hopefully grandparents) have OFA good or better hips and elbows, that they've been temperament tested, and that they've been tested for VWD (a canine version of hemophilia, a bleeding disorder), which is very common and dangerous in Dobes! A cardiac check is also a good idea.

I would suggest talking to a good veternarian. They would know who takes good care of their dogs.
