Dogs that are all "jumpy" are not getting enough exercise. Apparently, you are doing your job as a responsible owner.

Not all dogs are jumpy, I have 2 year old Lab and a 4 year old Pit Bull. They play and the Lab can get hyper but not jumpy. It alls depends on your dog and its age. If the dog is sleeping 24/7 and has no interest in life I would suggest taking him to the vet. Dogs are usually alert and get excited and happy over things and people they love. There are lazy dogs just like people. Some dogs with age slow down but never to thepoint they do not move. If your dog is totally out of it take him to the vet and make sure he does not have a medical problem or is not depressed.

Lori is right, if your dog is getting enough exercise, I wouldn't worry about your dog not being jumpy, and seeming to be lazy. It would mean that you're doing a great job as a dog owner.
If on the other hand, he is lazy and isn't getting any exercise, you might have a lazy dog on your hands, he might be getting old or he might have something wrong with him. In which case, you should take him to the vet for a checkup.

Yes it is very normal! All dogs are of different personalities just like people. While some are jumpy and very active, others are very quite and just lay around. My current mastiff is an overrated carpet basically! Just loves to be near his people and do nothing but move his eyes.

My brother owns a lab mix. We call her "walrus" dog, because she is as fat and lazy as a walrus! It is just your dog's personality. I think I would rather a lazy dog over a jumpy dog any day!

some dogs can be lazy but you need to take them on walks or get them toys in order to get them jumpy

Yes. Some dogs are more laid back, while others are hyper. He just has a calmer disposition, which is actually quite nice. That means you don't have to worry about him jumping on guests, and stuff like that.

Sure is. Thats just the way he is. All dogs have different personalities. Yours is just a little bit "lazy" as you would put it.
