Hello all...

I'm hoping someone can help me with our darling Kayden's behavior. She's a 3 year old, 95lbs Shepherd/labrador mix.

I got her as a puppy (8wks) and she's grown up in a fairly urban environment and was well socialized with other dogs from the very beginning. Almost everyday my girfirend or i brought her to a dog park/ beach where dozens of other dogs play.

She has always had very alpha tendencies but lately it has been getting much worse. when we bring her to these places she immediately goes into alpha mode, raises here hackle and gets very edgy. When other dogs come near, she gets real jealous and nips them to deter them, which often leads to further altercations. After a few minutes, she usually settles down bet she doesn't ever really play like she used too.

At our house it's worse. She does NOT like other dogs anywhere near our house. What I can't figure out, is she's not alpha/aggressive to humans. SHE KNOWS her place in the house where she listens VERY well

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their advice when I posted some questions about my dog coming down with parvo. It's been emotionally hard (and expensive) but it's looking like he's going to make it. He's been in the hospital for 4 days now, and he's finally drinking water on his own (and keeping it down). He should be coming home with me tomorrow.

My newest question is, what now? Is my dog going to catch parvo again from being back in my home? How long before he can come into contact with another dog? He's very young, about 6-8 weeks (they can't tell b/c hes so small b/c of the parvo) and has prob not been vaccinated (just came from the pound less than a week ago). They cant vaccinate him until he's fully recovered so should I keep him exclusively in my home so that he can't catch another disease like distemper or the corona virus? Help! I have no idea what to do!

Our pekingnese puppy Delilah has proven hard to house break. I've bought the pads but she only uses them on occassion. Any suggestions? Also, how often should I give her a bath?

One of our neighbors has 2 small, yappy dogs who literally barked from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. yesterday. (Yep, they were left ALONE that long). I was home most of the day, and was amazed at how many times, each hour, they went on barking jags. Every little thing would set them off: a squirrel, a bird, someone walking past the yard, a car driving past, a garage door opening, an airplane, you get the picture! ARRGH!!!!

What I'd like to know is: do dogs EVER get tired of hearing themselves bark? I know dogs' vocal chords are designed to make a lot more noise, and louder noise, than human vocal chords. But it seems even dogs should get hoarse or sore throats EVENTUALLY. Plus, it would also seem like eventually the dogs would get bored with all that barking, and just give up!

She is almost 7 months old now, is still teething, and I have noticed that her two canines are starting to grow in, BUT the old baby canines are still there - so they are right beside one another. Now if I lived in the US where I could take her to a vet I would - so please dont offer that obvious solution - I do not live in a country that has qualified vets. I plan on traveling back to the states in a few months and could bring her if I have to, but is there anything I can do? Is this normal, and will it resolve itself? And yes, she has lots of teething toys and teething treats.

what do people think of this. i have a springer spaniel, but since my ex left i have had to work longer hours. my son walks him when he gets in from school and feeds him, and my daughter who is at uni is at home with him a lot of the time, but i do feel he needs more. we cant bear to rehouse him though, cos we love him so much, but i sort of know someone who would be willing to look after him 2 or 3 days a week for us, almost like a foster carer ha ha. my son doesnt want me to do it but i am thinking of the dog. he is such a loving boy and really well behaved and i know he would love it and soon settle in and if he didnt then i wud keep him with us. what does anyone think of this idea

Hi,

I am planning on going to turkey later this year and I need to take my dog Beth. It will be a long stay holiday approx 5 months and I am really nervous about her flight in cargo. Does anybody have any experience of taking there animal abroad, and if so could you please give me some advice. I have spoken to my vet about it, he says he doesn't recommend sedatives to calm her nerves, but other than that he has no advice.
