You can but not on a regular basis. It may give him diarrhea. But never give dog food to a cat as cats are much more sensitve to certain things

Cat food and dog food are made differently for the different animals. Giving your dog stictly cat food would cause him to not get the nutrition he needs to be healthy. In the same way giving a cat stricty dog food causes ill health and blindness in cats.
Give your dog a well-balanced dog food. But a name brand, not generic. I'm not saying all, but some generic brands of cat and dog food have a large amount of fillers (usually saw dust) that, well filling the animal up, does not have any nutritional value. When a dog or cat is fed a diet of some generic feeds, they can literally starve to death, while eating constantly. So be careful.
If you care for and love your pet, treat him as though he were a child. Feed him properly and care for him properly, or give him to someone who will.

To be honest there are different formulations for cats and dogs. The cat foods usally have a higher fat and salt content than dog food does. Over the long term if you do feed your dog cat food it will loose vital nutrients and will greatly affect the health of your friendly companion.

Yes you can.. Some dogs love cat food.
we have a cat, and often times we feed other cats in the neighborhood as well. Two houses down, my neighbor has two dogs which stay in the backyard. Every once in awhile, the dogs get out, and they run over to our place to eat the cat food. It doesn't hurt them at all..

You probably shouldn't ... The nutrition of the food is designed for cats, all though your dog will survive on the cat food, he will have excess fats and proteins. Eventually this can lead to health problems and obesity. Cat food is made to keep cats healthy, not dogs.

Dogs don't need a high fat diet - but cats do! Over time dogs eating cat food would get too much of what they don't need & cats eating dog food would not get enough of what they need.
