Look around at your local shelter. You will know whats cute to you. I think pit bulls are cute, but other people think theyre disgusting monsters, so it's really a matter of opinion, but either way, a shelter dog is the way to go.

I think the first thing you should do is go to your local SPCA and take a look at all those dogs. You will get an idea of what you like. Be careful in picking out your dog cause once you do you just can't take it back. Having a dog is like having a child it comes with a lot of responsibilities.
Do you have the time to potty train?
Do you have the money for food and medical care?
Do you have the proper home and space for it?
Are you or any family members allergic to dogs? If so, there are some breeds that are for people who are allergic to dogs.
Do you have any small children in the home? Some of the breeds are not good with children or children should not be around them because the dog might be too small or to temperamental for the child or too big.
There are more things to consider other than cute when purchasing a dog.
I hope that you make the right decision and hope that your dog will be from the SPCA.
Good Luck.

Well, there are a lot of things that go into chosing a dog. You have to think about size, energy level, personality, grooming requirements. And how much money can you spend on a dog. Owning a large dog is going to cost more than owning a small dog. If you think about food costs, vet bills, crate, toys, collar and leash, all of these cost more for a large dog. And large dogs also need more room and more exercise. This is a great website: http://dogbreedinfo.com/ to look at ALL the different breeds that are available. And they also have a breed selector quiz that you can take: http://dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm That way you know more of what you are looking for.
And you can either look for a GOOD breeder to get your dog from, or you can look at your shelters. Once you know what kind of dog you want it will be easier to either find a pure breed from a shelter, or a mixed breed. http://www.petfinder.com/ is a great website that will help you find dogs who are in shelters in your area. You can search for dogs based on breed, age, size and gender.
Good Luck finding your new dog!!!

There are so many ways to find one that pleeses you. Try going to the hot spot where all the dogs seem to play. Then if you find a cute or gentle one, ask the owner what breed. Also you can look in the newspaper. I reccomend cross breeds. Shih-poos(SHIHTZU X POODLE) are wonderfull!

Research what you think you might like. Some dogs like to cuddle - some like to play - some like to run - it all depends on the breed you choose.
I personally love my Chihuahua! She is a love-bug! Very loyal to their owners.

It all depends on your needs and wants in a small dog, but I think Pugs are wonderful pets.
