I just had a doberman shipped thur delta air. I had no problems at all. Wow, after reading these answers I guess I'm lucky. If your buying online there's a few things you should do. Pay thru paypal, have them send you a contract stating the dog is guarenteed free of genetic and congenital defects for 1yr - guarentee is replacement puppy of equal value from next litter-buyer agrees to provide seller with written documentation of defect from licensed vet and return of puppy unless in event of it's death- if buyer can no longer care for the puppy for any reason seller will take puppy back- buyer is granted 10 days from time of receipt to return puppy for refund of purchase price or exchange if so desired. Get a 1 yr health guarentee in writing 1st (which should be in the contract) & find out if the dog will be sedated for the trip. They might tell you it will come with the dog, but that's not cool. What if it doesn't? You'd be screwed. The dog will come with a health certificate saying it's healthy enough to fly which is required to be shipped. Make sure you get the reg# for the litter if it's AKC. If they tell you it hasn't come it yet/being processed, it's probably BS. Keep asking questions. Buying online was scary, but it worked out ok for me. Do your research though. google -buying a dog/dog buying/ stuff like that and see what a breeder is supposed to ask you and you ask them. It's helpful. Go to a few of those sites and take notes. Next time you talk to a breeder you'll be ready. That's what I did &it worked out for me. Don't forget to ask for more pics of the dog, and find out if it's kept inside with the family or in a kennel setting. Make sure they don't sell all kinds of animals. Get pictures of the parents. Good luck. I know it's alot to remember. Take your time, dont' rush into it.

Pam, where did you get your doberman? Mine came from Mo.

I've never used Express Pet delivery and do not know of anyone that has used it, but I have heard of it.

We've always used Delta Airlines, because you can pay for the shipping when you pick the pup up at the airport!

I have had both great and disasterous results dealing with a breeder via telephone and email. I had a doberman flown in and when I saw the dog, it wasn't even the dog I was led to believe I was purchasing. I too sent the dog back to the breeder. Then I made a 7 hr drive to look at quality pups.

I certainly hope you did your homework on this breeder. May I ask what breed and where you are getting it from?

Don't buy a puppy over the internet. You're not buying a pair of shoes, or a book from Amazon.com

You're buying a companion with an individual personality. You at least owe it to yourself and the dog to find out if he has a personality you LIKE before subjecting an 8 week old puppy to the stress and confusion of "shipping".

There are tons of dogs in your local area that need homes - why not check your local shelter or rescue group and save a life?

It extra then in all threat is. My daughter become scammed threw a style of. First she paid for the dogs and delivery expenditures. Then they stated she had to pay for a undeniable provider kennel. Then supposedly the dogs become placed in quarantine and she or he had to pay a value for that and pictures. Then whilst the dogs become think to be further and become no longer she called them and that they stated their delivery provider had went to her living house and she or he become no longer living house, which become no longer real. Then the tale replaced and that they stated she become think to p.c.. the dogs up on the airport and did no longer so as that they decrease back the dogs to the seller. She stated this to the police and that they instructed her it become an exceptionally difficulty-loose rip-off. in the tip she lost $2000. under no circumstances with the help of a puppy until eventually you have considered the puppy in individual and you already know the seller for actual. additionally make confident the puppy did no longer come from a puppy mill, by using fact those animals are generally in undesirable well being.

No, but let me tell you the experience I just had buying a puppy that was shipped to me.

When I picked him up at the airport poor thing was so scared that he bit me when I went to touch him. He had a horrible temperament and I don't know if it was the flight that scared him or if he had been mistreated by his breeder. He was definately not properly socialized and he was miserable and making us miserable. We tried everything we could to get him to adjust to us but failed. He went back to his breeder who we forced to take him back because she sold us a dog that she obviously she should not have sold.

It was a horrible experience but we had no other choice.

You really need to purchase a dog from a local breeder that you can visit and take your pick of the litter in person.

I've heard that most of the time when you buy a dog from a long distance breeder they don't send you the dog you actually purchased but another one and once you receive the dog most likely you will never hear of the breeder either.

I have gotten the best dogs when I pick them up in person.

The dog should not spend more than 8 hours on a flight to be delivered to you.

Good luck.

I saw on the news that people that buy from the Internet, without seeing the puppy, sometimes get a sick puppy. Sometimes they send the money, and never get a puppy
If buying from the Internet, I would try to see the puppy, or buy one where you can travel by car and pick it up
Good luck

Be very very careful the number of times that I have heard of this as a fraud (they never ship the pup) is legion for they are many. Very few reputable breeders will ship to someone they dont know and have not met, so even if its legit & you get the pup it will be a puppymill product and may not look like you expect......

Please don't waste your money.
DO NOT buy a dog if you can't see it first.
You are setting yourself up for heartache.
