dog of any of the Mastiff Breeds being walked in the street. Have you ever seen a Mastiff walking in the park etc. Where do people walk these dogs? Why do you never see them? Maybe you do, tell me about it - How well behaved are they? Do they scare you?
I know it's a strange question but I think it's really strange - Why have I never seen one? There must be thousands of them.

i posted this question last night but i learned some new info today so here i go again.

my dog got out of my house on accident-- OK, i know tht was my fault, im not doubting that. however he isn't aggressive, he is a pit bull but he is only 1 yrs old and has never attempted to bite anybody.
anyway after he got out there was a guy on a bike and he had 2 stray dogs chasing him,so my dog thought it was a game of chase and joined in.
well this guy said it was a brown and white dog that bit him. he called the police, we got a ticket, the police called animal control and they took my dog in for a 10 day quarrantine.
i talked with the animal control officer today and she said the guy only had a couple of scratches and he stated that he wasn't sure if the dog bit him or scratched him.
this makes me wonder why they only took my dog because if he isn't sure if he was bit or scratched then he didnt' see which dog actually did it, right?
he said it was a brown and white one but there was 2

We have a 10 month old Golden Retriever who loves the water and will swim at any chance. She only swims for about 5 minutes, so is it OK for her to swim 4 or 5 times a week during the cold winter months ?

I have a 10 month old yellow lab\Shar-Pei mix. She shows no interest in chewing toys, playing with toys, etc. She is very loving and is well trained in many areas. My main concern is she sleeps all day and doesn't show any energy at all, except when I take her for walks. Even then, she just casually walks with me. She has no pep in her step. We rescued her from a shelter 5 days ago. Is this her character or is she just recooperating from a past traumatic experience? Can I help her come out of it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My dog and a neighbors dog got into another neighbor's field of goats. They started chasing them and eventually killed one, but didn't eat it. They just left after that. Now I'm terrified he'll try it again. We have a large fenced in yard (chain link) but he will dig, and dig til' he escapes. For now, he is in the house and we keep in on a runner outside.
Do Labs normally chase down other animals, just for the kill. Or do you think the 2 dogs were acting as a pack?

Well, this morning I got a phone call from my kids telling me that my dog had bloody diarrhea. So, instead of running right home and jumping on YA, I called the vet. I waited, waited while my poor dog suffered and soooo many qualified people were right here on YA waiting to tell me what to do, until noon when I could get him into the vet! Shame on me!!! Then, once I got him there, I actually could AFFORD the bill and TOOK the vet's advice!

Please tell me how I can over come this? Why was I so stupid, not to turn to YA instead of a qualified vet? What was I thinking???

We have a chihuahua daschund that is 8 years old. We potty trained him and he would sneak in a squirt in the house here and there but lately he's gotten worse. We have tried getting him a diaper, but he manages to slip out of it. We've also put him in a kennel during the day and he will do it at night. I got home today and he peed on the blanket on the couch. Our family is getting to the point where we want to get rid of him but we don't have the hearts to do it. Anyone have any suggestions?

We adopted a very sweet and HUGE dog yesterday. He is 6 years old and a mix of Golden Retreiver, Lab, and Chow. He weighs about 120 lbs. or better and is the sweetest dog I have ever met in my life. I love him dearly already but we are having a problem with him eating. He absolutely refuses to eat! I am worried about him. I have adopted animals before and never had this problem. I'm not sure what to do. I have tried different types of food, including the food he is used to and pieces of hot dog. Nothing. He's acting normal otherwise just refusing to eat. What can I do? I know this is a hard adjustment for him as he is used to his old owner - we adopted him from a lady who could no longer care for him and was facing taking him to the shelter - but the last thing that I want is him ending up sick from not eating. How do I coax him to eat? He has to be hungry! Here's a picture of him with me and my son - blurred faces for privacy. Thanks for any suggestions and serious answers only please

I've been searching for a new puppy and finally found one at Deja Vu Kennels. I'm so scared though of getting a sick puppy; my last dog came from a seemingly reputable breeder and was sick her whole life.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this breeder?
Can anyone who is more of an expert on breeders check out their web site for me?
Thanks a bunch to any replies.
